Introduction

Don Bosco College, Mannuthy

Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, a Catholic Minority Institution, is a part of the aforesaid worldwide network. As such, it aims at enlightening the lives of students, staff and parents with the values of the Gospel and to impart to the students a holistic education. It is an Arts and Science college affiliated to university of Calicut, where we strive to achieve the total development of youngsters and transform them into honest citizens and persons of faith. It provides university education needed to meet the challenges of time. The Government of Kerala granted permission to start the college through the GO (MS) No. 10/2005/Higher Edn. Thiruvananthapuram, dated 14/02/2005.

Drawing the inspiration from the founder, St. John Bosco, and strengthened by the experience of thousands of his devoted sons all over the world, Don Bosco College places great emphasis on the overall development of the students. Education can never be divorced from the larger patterns of life. We, at Don Bosco College Mannuthy, believe that education should help people to lead better lives, earn better income, and take their positions in the higher echelons of society. It should give them the strength to understand and cope with the hard realities of life, thus paving the way for fulfillment in life. With this end in view Don Bosco College leads all the students, regardless of the branch/course selected through an integrated course on the Science of creativity and personality development.

Successful education is the result of proper collaboration of parents, students and teachers. Hence the parents/ Guardians are requested to keep in touch with the Management and staff of the college periodically.

Our Vision

We aim at helping the students to be intellectually competent, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically fit and strong, and socially acceptable. Our students should be capable of championing the cause of justice, love, truth and peace in order to develop our nation. They should equip themselves with enough material to be in the forefront to create a just and human society that respects human dignity and religious harmony. They should be prepared to shoulder the responsibility of fostering national integration, and the cultural heritage of the country. Above all, they should stand on their own feet, facing bravely and successfully, this world of acute competition.

Our Mission

To groom intellectually competent, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically able and socially responsible persons through holistic and innovative education.

Profile

Don Bosco College, Mannuthy

"Preferential option for the poor" has been impelling force of all our educative interventions at the school and college levels. The same choice now calls us to enter a new field to provide higher education to many disadvantaged youth from all spheres of life especially those from poor economic and social conditions.

We are called to accompany the young in the crucial moments of their life. College study is a time in their life in which they make the more important decisions for their future. Vocational orientation in the fundamental choices of their life or profession is the utmost requirement at this stage more than any other.

The presence of the Salesian Congregation adds colour and flavour to the life of the youth in those environments in which social change, especially in relation to youth is being promoted. We spend so much of our time, energy and means in reacting, counteracting and correcting negative youth culture. Preventive System calls us to be present in the very places where such culture is created.

Don Bosco College, Mannuthy together with 32 other Colleges in India contributes to the qualitative formation of youth for their entry into the world of work and for their responsible involvement in the society in such a way that their involvement goes beyond the demands and needs of the market that effects changes and new developments in society itself.
