Don Bosco college is organizing BRIDGE COURSE for the newly admitted students of the year 2023-24. The awaited program would commence on 19th June and would wind up on 27th June 2024. The above course would be a leveler for students taking admission from different educational plus two boards. The participants would be given an intensive revision of the Plus two syllabus pertaining to the degree course they intent to pursue for the next three years. Transfers: The Principal Dr. Fr. Joy Ullattil is transferred to Don Bosco College, Angadikadavu, Iritty as its Manager and Superior of the House. He will assume his position on 24th May, 2025. Fr. Robin Mathew, the Vice Principal is transferred to Mount Don Bosco Wayanad as Dean of Studies. He too assume his designation on 24th May, 2024. Mrs. Beena, the Accountant who served the institution for nearly 30 years is getting retired. The retirement function was held on 29th April.
Don Bosco Youth Center is organizing a one month long Summer Camp " Summer Fun - '24" for children of the Locality. The participants eligible are those between 7-15 years. The Program includes Football Coaching, Music class, Spoken English, Drawing class, Personality Development Group Dynamics. Local tour etc. The Program was inaugurated by Fr. Shino on 2nd April. Currently 58 children are participating and more children are expected to join in the coming days.
It is yet another credit for the College where generous people are willing to support the college and its activities with Finance by establishing Endowments. Mr. Sebi George Chiramel a generous neighbor has contributed 200000( 2 lakhs) towards Educational, Medical and Charity works taken up by the college. The money is deposited as Fixed Deposit in a Bank where the proceeds by way of annual interest would be distributed to deserving people. The cash is remitted as an endowment on behalf of Mr.Sebi and Family. The MOU regarding the same was signed between the college Administrator and Mr. Sebi, and a sum of Rs. 200000/- is transferred to the College Account. The college is grateful to Mr. Sebi for his magnanimity.
The annual Sports day for the year 2023-24 was held on 25th March. The preliminary competitions and tournaments were already completed prior to the Sports day, where only the finals of Football and Cricket competitions were chalked. The Chief guest was Mr. Lionel Thomas, a one time Santhosh Trophy Player and team captain for SBI continuously for 5 years. He is now a veteran player and a certified Coach. The Inaugural function of the Sports day was made colorful by the March past and Parade by the NCC cadets and NSS Volunteers. The Football and Cricket teams too joined the March past. The Chief guest hoisted the flag and gave an inspiring message before he inaugurated the Sports Day. The College day, 2023-24 christened as ADHARVA- 24, was celebrated on 22nd March. The Chief Guest was Mr. Vidhyadharan Master, a renowned Music Composer and Play back singer. During the morning formal function, Collee report and Student Union reports were presented . Annual Scholarships and awards were distributed to the deserving students. It was followed by cultural items performed by students and staff. In the afternoon, there was Music and dance. A popular Music Band from the town was invited to perform while the students had opportunity to dance to the accompaniment of the music. Whole campus was in a joyful mood with decorations and celebrations. the Students and the Staff enjoyed the day.
20 NSS Volunteers headed by the Program Officer Mr. Ajeesh and Student coordinators : Joshua and Sreelakshmi organized a cleaning drive in the compound of SOS village near Mannuthy. They spend nearly 5 hours cleaning the surrounding of rubbish, and unwanted foliage making the compound clean and beautiful. They also set up and planted a vegetable garden and set up Thanneerkudam ( handing water cups for birds) on the tree branches so that birds can enjoy water during the hot summer. The Authorities of the SOS village along with the inmates joined the effort.

The NSS Unit of the college would celebrate the women's day by conducting a Seminar on the theme: "Women and Legal Aid" on 7th March, in the College auditorium. On this day, all the teaching staff would be honoured and more specially the Senior most women staff would be the chief Guest.
The International women's day is on 8th March. But the college plans to conduct the celebration on 6th as well as on 7th. 8th being " Sivaratri Festival, is a holiday for educational Institutions. The Women's Cell of the college has planned to Organize a half day workshop on the theme" Adolescent health Awareness". The session would be handled by Dr. B.Vipin from Amala Hospital. The class would be attended by all the girl students of the college. During the event, the college also would felicitate all the 13 support working women of the college. They would be honored in the presence of the students and offered gifts by the Manger.
The MD and Operations Chairman of BEGECA, a foreign Language Certification Agency from Germany are to pay a visit to the college to study the feasibility of opening a foreign Language testing Center at Don Bosco College, They are focusing mainly on German Language as there are thousands of candidates from Kerala who are opting to study and work in Germany and require Certification in German Language. The two officials inspected the Computer lab facilities, class rooms and Internet connectivity - those that are basic needs for the center they have in mind. If satisfied, they are to have a MOU with the College.
Don Bosco Foot ball academy for school students under 15 years was inaugurated on 31st January on the feast of St. John Bosco. The team is undergoing rigorous practice to select the final team members. The team was officially inducted with Uniform and boots with full time Coach on 26th February.

The School College teachers from20 institutions of the Thrissur District were given one day training on Adolescent Mentoring non 26th October at the College auditorium. The Program was organized by DREAM and NGO for Drug Rehabilitation And Mentoring working under the aegis of the College. The Program was inaugurated by Mrs. Saritha Ravindran- Sub-Judge and Secretary to the Legal Aid Society. The classes were handled by Mr. S.Shanavas, Deputy Excise Commissioner- Thrissur accompanied by Dr. Sebind Kumar and Dr P.K Satheesh. There were 280 participants.
The Commerce and Management Fest - Dhyuthi-23 was held as scheduled on 20th October. The program was attended by more than 400 participants from 36 colleges in and around Thrissur District. The Program was inaugurated by a well known Entrepreneur From Joy Alukkas Gold Merchants. The students participated in various competitions and fun games and there was stiff competition between the participants. The Program was concluded late in the afternoon about 6.pm.
All the non-Christian students of the College belonging to Ist and IInd year courses were given a Value Education Session on 13th October. This was limited to the Non- Christians as all the Christian Students had gone to attend Holy Mass as part of the Ist Friday liturgical activity. The Value Education classes were attended by nearly 240 students and was well appreciated.
The Women's Cell in the College organized a Session on Relationships among Young people and how to handle it on 12th October. The Resource person was Dr. Joy Ullattil a veteran on Youth Development. The Class was attended by over 90 girls students for whom it was organised.
To Commemorate and create Awareness on Issues of Mental Health, the World Mental Health Day was celebrated in the College on 10th October. The Students of Psychology and Social Work staged a Flash Mob in the morning during the break when all the students were around. with the Theme: Mental Health is a Universal Human Right."
The Commerce and Management Fest Christened as DHYUTHI) is to be held on 20th October. The two departments of Commerce and Management have sprung to action and hectic preparations are being done. They expect participation from nearly 35 colleges from the various colleges of the State .
The Department of Commerce organized a seminar on Business Ethics on 27th September. It was attended by the First year students of the Department. Mr. Rahul AR , the Co-founder and CEO of Viswavedha School of thoughts was the main resource person.
The Psychology and Social Work students of the college commemorated the World Suicide Prevention day by organizing and attending a Seminar given by Dr. Girish Menon, Consultant Psychiatrist and Asst. Professor of Jubilee Mission Medical college. The program was an awareness building session given to the Psychology and Social Work students on the prevalence, causes, and remedies for preventing suicides.
A two hour session and workshop on the Basics of SQL was given to the Computer science and Mathematics students on 27th. The sessions ere handled by the teachers: Ms. Ginnu George and Ms. Delma Domini. It was a practical based training where all the students got additional hand-on experience on working with SQL.
The Add-on Courses for the year 2023-24 commenced on 27th September. Nearly 90 students have registered for the various Add-on Programs offered at the College. The days set apart of the Add-on Classes are on all Wednesdays and Thursdays of the week from 2.30pm- 4.30 pm. Classes are also held on Saturdays of the week. The add on courses include: ACCA, CMA, Digital Marketing, GST and Tally, AI and Data Science, and Cyber Security.
The department of Physical Education organized a week long inter-class shuttle tournament beginning from 26th September. There were participants from nearly all the classes and the tournaments are scheduled to be concluded by 30th september,
The Club activities of the College was inaugurated for the year 2023-24 on23rs August 2023. Ten clubs were introduced on the day. Students who had joined the various clubs performed stage items pertaining to their clubs.
The ED club ( Entrepreneurial Development Club) organized a half day skill training for its members on assembling LED electronic decorative stars. The electronic Department staff coordinated the training.
The college joined the Nation wide celebration of Hindi Divas ( Hindi Day) The students of the language department met together, under the leadership of the Hindi teachers. They had speeches and Quiz competition to commemorate the Hindi Day.
The Ist PTA meetings for the year 2023 were held from Sep.15, 16, and 21st. The parents were grouped in to 6 clusters and were invited to attend the meeting on the days allotted. Nearly 95% of the parents turned up for the meeting which were coordinated by the Principal. The New Manger of the College was introduced to the parents n all the groups. Issues of student academic performance, facilities, conduct of exams, publication of results and general behavior of the students were points of discussion. The Manager animated the all the parents through his talk and interaction with them. The Snehabhavanam project of building two houses for two poor families were discussed and the PTA unanimously agreed to contribute Rs. 2000/- each towards the construction of the houses.
The teachers day celebrations ere held in a fitting manner. during the College morning assembly all the teachers were honored and appreciated and the Principal spoke on the commitment and dedication shown by the teachers in the college. The students then had separate celebrations in the class room sharing greeting cards, flowers, gifts and snacks. The staff gathered separately in the afternoon where the Manager met the teachers and expressed words of appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful service they render to the college.
The Teachers day celebrations were conducted in the college on 5th of September . All the Classes organized felicitation programs to honor and thank the teachers. The Non- teaching staff too were honored during the College Assembly.
The 24 Battalion NCC cadets had their Army Camp at Kunnamkulam Govt. School. 21 of our NCC cadets participated in the said camp. The camp lasted from 26th august to 3rd September. The NCC cadets relished the camp and reported as hectic, thrilling, adventurous and energetic.
The College level Onam celebrations were held on 25th August. Preparations for the same had taken place since a couple of weeks. This year the celebrations were held in the Football ground. The whole campus was decorated and the students and staff were in the Onam attire. After the solemn inauguration of the celebration, the Onam Message was delivered by the Manger of the College, followed by Onam songs, dance and games. The Onam Sadhya was served to all the students which was followed by the finals of the Tug-o-war. In the afternoon all the students danced to the tune of drums fill about 4.30pm. The celebrations ere rated as very pleasant, peaceful and there was much gaiety and fun.
The annual NSS Special Camp was held from Aug 25- 31st at Govt. LP School Peechi abut 12 Km from the College. The site selected for the camp is a rural area and the main activities of the Camp was carried out at the Adopted village, Thamaravilachal, about 4 km from the Camp site. There wee 49 NSS volunteers who took part in the camp accompanied by the NSS program Officer and Asst. Program Officer. The various activities included, Survey of the Village, Cleaning, Road repair, Plastic waste collection, interaction with the villagers, Onam celebration with the children of the village, Trekking into the forest and Dam reservoir and Camp fire. During the Camp, the Revenue Minister, Mr. Raman, the Pachayat President, The Sub-Inspector of Police, various Ward Council members, the college staff and manger etc. paid visit.
Don Bosco College celebrated the Indian Independence day on the 15th August. The NCC cadets, NSS Volunteers, teachers and Youth Center Members were present on the occasion. The National Flag was hoisted by the Manager of the College, Rev. Fr. Cyril Edamana and the Independence day message was immediately delivered by him. The NCC cadets performed a beautiful parade in the NCC style fitting to the occasion.

The newly admitted students - 2023 Admissions for the Undergraduate courses would commence their classes on August !st 2023. All students who took admission this year, both under Management Quota and Merit quota are to report to the college on 1st August at 8.50 am.
The University has granted approval to two new courses at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. they are BA Christian Studies and Bachelor in Social Work (BSW). Several students have already enrolled for the new courses. Yet more students are welcome to join the course. Admissions are still open.

The NSS unit of the College under the leadership of the Program Officer has raised enough money to buy and distribute study materials to SC/ST students of a remote village i the outskirts of the Trichur District. The Volunteers have gathered the amount from different sources, have identified the students of a poor village at Thavalappara near Pattikkad. Around 75 school going students of the twin villages are expected to get the benefit.

The day is selected so that maximum number of participants can attend the program. The College would re-open for the academic year 2023-24 on June 5th Monday. The Second and Fifth Semester students are to report to the College on the first day at 9 am itself. There will the the inauguration of the Academic year at the Morning Assembly at 9.15 am. All the students are to report to the College Auditorium at 9 am. The Inaugural function will include a Prayer service followed by Welcome function for the New Manager Rev.Fr. Cyrial Edamana who replaces Fr. Mathew Kapplikkunnel the previous Manager. Along with this the new faculty members too would be welcomed and introduced to the college.
The College has arranged Faculty Development program for the teaching faculties on 31st May 2023 and on 1st June 2023. The Orientation Program for the entire College staff will take place on 2nd of June 2023. The afternoon of 2nd June is dedicated for drawing up the Annual Plan for the Academic year 2023-24 and the specific plans for the various Departments. All the Faculties, Administrative Staff and support staff are expected to be present on all the three days.
All the staff members of the college: Teaching and Non- teaching will be attending a three day Orientation and Preparation program before the beginning of the new Academic Year 2023-24. The Program includes: Induction and Orientation for the new faculties who are appointed during the current year as well as Faculty development program for all. The dates set aside for these programs are: 31st may to 2nd June. The College would re-open for the next academic year on 5th June. The Program will conclude on the 2nd after the preparation of the detailed annual plan for the college for the year 2023-24.
The College would re-open for the IIIrd and Vth Semester students on the 5th of June 2023. Though the academic year starts on June Ist, the Faculty Development Program is scheduled on the Ist and Second of June 2023. All the students are expected to report for classes on the 5th at 9 am. Classes would be held as usual for the whole day, 9 am to 2.30 pm.
Dr. Fr. Mathew Kapplikkunnel is on transfer from being a Rector and Manager at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy to Don Bosco Technical Institute, Susaipalayam in the District of Kolar Gold Fields - Karnataka. He is moving to his new assignment as the Assistant Parish Priest in the Parish belonging to the Salesians at KGF. Besides the Parish work he is also a member of the Community that runs a Technical Institute and other social service activities. Fr. Mathew has been the Rector and Manager of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy for the last three years- 2020 May - May 2023. He has been instrumental in the quick growth of the College, thus securing the NAAC accreditation in the year 2022. Besides being over all in charge as the Manager of the Institution, he was the Director of the out reach programs of the college namely; KISMAT ( Intervention among the Migrant workers in Thrissur District) and DREAM, (Drug Rehabilitation and Mentoring ) creating awareness among school children and College Youth about the dangers of Drug Abuse and providing Counseling Services to those affected. We wish him good health and success in the new Ministry that he is getting involved.
Don Bosco Youth Center, Ollukara, Thrissur is organizing the 8th All Kerala Fives Flood lite Foot Ball Tournament on 21st and 22nd of May. The Tournament is held at the Flood lite Stadium at Don Bosco College Mannuthy. There are 16 selected teams taking part in the Tournament. The finals would be held on 22nd evening. The Tournaments are held in the evening in the newly, renovated flood lite grass turf.

Don Bosco Summer Camp was inaugurated on 19th April at Don Bosco College. The participants were a group of children from age 12 -18. The Camp was inaugurated by Fr. Mathew Kapplikunnel, the Rector and Manager of the College. Fr. Robin, the Vice Principal of the College is the Director of the Camp assister by Bro. Jyothis. The Camp starts daily at 9 am and goes on to 2 pm in the afternoon. Among the various activities, Football coaching, Spoken English, Music Class, Leadership training, Group Dynamics and other games are the highlights. The children are thrilled at the variety of camp activities and the facilities provided. T-shirt, Cap, daily snacks and other attractive things are provided. The camp will conclude on19th of May.
Don Bosco College is organizing One Month Summer camp with a variety of activities for the neighborhood school children. Students from 5th standard to 12 standard can attend the Summer Camp. The camp is scheduled to begin on 19th April and conclude on 19th May. The various programs include: Football coaching, Soft Skill training, Personality Development, Leadership, Group Dynamics and classes in Musical Key board, Spoken English and computer basics. The Academic year 2022-23 would conclude on 31st march. Regular classes with Time Table would be followed till the date. Since the portions of II Semester and IVth Semester are not over, few more days of class would be organized with special time-table. The Classes would be till 17th of March followed by Internal Tests on 18th,-20th for the IInd and IVth Sem students. The college would then close for Summer vacation from 20th April onwards. The IVth Semester exams are to begin on 15th May, as notified by the University.
The College Day would be celebrated on 7th March in the College. The College Union along with the staff members would wee to the arrangements. Its after two years that College day would be celebrated as Covid -19 had disrupted the celebrations earlier. The Students are already in preparation for the great day. Mr. Jojo of Kalabhavan famous would entertain the College students after the Inaugural Function. The Chief Guest for the day is Mr. Engandiyoor Chandrasegharan, a well know, poet and lyricist. A DJ Music band is booked for the afternoon session.
The Outgoing students as well as the second year students are invited to attend the Finishing School training and Workshop on 29th of March. This program is arranged to give a final tips before they move out f the college. The topics covered would include, facing interviews, preparation of Resumes, Mock Interviews, Choosing of higher studies, Career guidance, Leadership training and Skill Development. This program is in collaboration with the Don Bosco Cooperators who would make the arrangement for appropriate trainers. All the final year students are expected to attend this program.
The sent off for the Final Year students of various courses would begin on March 20th. The various days during the week are allotted for the various courses as per their availability after exams. The Second year students are to take initiative to organize the fare well get-together for their seniors.
The College Sports day would be celebrated on 17th February. The College Manager Rev.Dr. Fr. Mathew Kapplikunnel would be the Chief guest to hoist the flag and inaugurate the Sports Day. The Sports day would be a culmination of all the sports and Games activities of the College. The Finals of Football, Cricket, Shuttle badminton would be held on the day along with Tug-O-war and other games for the girls.
The Third Faculty Development Program for the teaching members of the College is scheduled to be conducted on 18th March at Don Bosco College, Kottiyam- Kollam. The FDP is organized by the Don Bosco Higher Education Institutions of Bangalore Province. The program would be attended by several faculties from the 4 Don Bosco Colleges from Kerala.
The Women's Day would be celebrated on March 8th. This year the program is organized in collaboration with the the Don Bosco Collee Cooperators. The Women's Cell of the College is to take the initiative to make the local arrangements. Prof. Dr. Ap Usha, Director of Farms of Kerala Agricultural University would be the Chief Guest. While Mrs. Biji Mathew HoD of Logic School of management, Ernakulam would lead the sessions. On the same day all the women administrative staff members would be honoured by the College.
The VIth Semester Examinations is scheduled by the University to begin on 13th March. the time table is displayed on the Notice Board. The BSc. CS, BCA and the BA English students would be facing the exam on 13th onwards while the BCom and BBA would have the exams from 23rd March onwards.
The Economer General of the Salesian Congregation, Rev.Bro. Muller Jean Paul, paid a short visit to the College Community on 23rd February. The Economer General is one of the General Councilors of the Congregation in charge of all the Economic matters. It is the first time that he is visiting India. His visit was part of the National level Meeting of the Provincial Councilors of the Indian Provinces at Hyderabad which is scheduled to take place from 1st March to 5th 2023.
The College Staff went on a tour to Wayanad on 18th February. They visited Don Bosco College, Bathery and later went on to Banasura dam and spent the rest of the day at Vaithiri Park, Wayanad. There were 38 participants including the administrative staff.
The second round of Parent Teachers Meeting will be held from 15th February 21st February. On 15t February Morning: III BCom, CA, Finance, Banking and BBA; in the after noon: III BCA, BSc.CS, BSc. Maths, and BA English. on 20th Feb: Morning: II BCom CA, FinNce, Banking and BBA.; and in the afternoon: II BSc. CS, BCA, BSc. Maths and BA English. On 21st Morning: I BCom Ca, Finance, Banking, and BBA; in the afternoon: I BCA, BSc.CS,, BSc. Maths, Bsc.Psy, and BA English. All the students are expected to bring their parents as per schedule.
The Calicut University has approved and affiliated BA Christian Studies as an Under-graduate Degree to be offered in Don Bosco College Mannuthy from the Academic year 2023 onwards. The said course comes under the Arts and Humanities Faculty initiated by the Chair of Christianity at the University. Calicut University is the only University and Don Bosco College is the only College to get this opportunity in the Whole of Kerala. BA Christian Studies is a three year Degree course like any other degree programs, completion of which will qualify for getting admission to MA, MSW, MCJ, MBA B.Ed etc. The Syllabus and the Faculties are well selected and the College is now ready to taken in students as per the University admission schedule. A pass in Plus two is the only criteria for admission.
National Seminar on the Topic: Changes iin Psycho-Social Attributes of Mental Health - Post Covid-19, on Children Youth and Family is Scheduled to be conducted on 21st January 2023. It is a one day program which stats at 9.30 am and will conclude at 4.30 pm. Erudite Resource persons are set to lead the Seminar with Informative sessions and Panel Discussions. There will be Paper presentations on various themes related to the topic. The Inauguration of the newly approved funded NSS Unit of the College(Unit No.338) is to be held on 17th January 2023. The Unit will be inaugurated by the State NSS Officer, Dr. Anzer R.N. in the presence of Sree. P.Balachandran, the MLA of Thrissur Constituency who will be the Chief Guest of the Day. Prof.. Soni T.L the Programme Coordinator of the University of Calicut will be present to offer felicitation. The Inaugural Programme is scheduled to be conducted in the College Auditorium at 9.30 am. 50 NSS volunteers have been initiated in to the newly formed NSS Unit of the College. The volunteers were given two orientation programs as a preparation to join NSS. The Overnight Orientation program held on 13-14th Jan. was attended by 46 candidates under the leadership of Mr. Ajeesh the Program officer of the college. During the Inaugural Program, there will be the inauguration of the Fund raising project taken up by the NSS towards Snehaveed ( a project of the University to build a house for a homeless family).
The second Orientation program for the fresh applicants for the Newly approved NSS unit of the College was held on 14th January 2023. The Camp was an overnight camp which began on the 13th evening at 6 pm and ended on 14th noon at 1.pm. The purpose of the Camp was to do group building of the newly selected volunteers through various exercises in group dynamics, The volunteers were also given training and instructions on the basic requirements and practices of NSS life and activity. Prof. Tharun of Christ College was the chief resource person. The program was well coordinated by the Program officer of the College Asst. Prof.Ajeesh. The camp on the whole facilitated group building and enhanced enthusiasm and motivation among the participants.
Don Bosco College Mannuthy is now allotted with a State Funded NSS ( National Service Scheme) Unit( Unit No. 338 by the State NSS Office endorsed by the Calicut University. The Circular of approval from the University arrived on January 5th, The College has already selected fresh volunteers for the first batch and their names are being enrolled in the University NSS Portal. The Inauguration of the NSS Unit at the college will take place on 18th January, The University NSS Program Coordinator is expected to be the Chief Guest for the day.50 fresh volunteers are already listed and their Orientation program is scheduled on 14th Jan. 2023.
IQAC of the college organized a one day training program for all the teaching and Office staff members of the college on MOODLE. The resource persons were Mrs. Jwala and Mr. Prince, Asst.professors from Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery. The training was attended by 56 participants. The training began at 9.30 am and ended at 2.30 pm. It is becoming a necessity that modern LMS is introduced in teaching Learning and Evaluation. The MOODLE open source has unlimited facilities that can be tapped to make Teaching an Learning modern and user friendly. The College is ever on the look out for usage of ICT facilities to make the Teaching and Learning of high Quality.
The NCC Unit of Don Bosco Collège, Mannuthy, under 24(K)Bn Thrissur is scheduled to be inaugurated on 14th December at the College premises. Col.Suresh Narayanan of 24(K)Bn would be hoisting the NCC flag and inaugurate the Unit.
The Vicar General of the Salesians of Don Bosco Rev.Fr. Stefano Martoglio sdb paid a brief visit to Don Bosco College, Mannuthy on Monday 14th November 2022. Dr.Fr. Jose Koyickal, the Provincial of the Bangalore Province and others accompanied him to the college. Fr. Stefano was given a warm reception by the College, Management, staff and students in the Auditorium where he had the opportunity to interact with the students. The function was held in the morning at 9.am . Fr. Stefano is the second in command in the Salesian Congregation which has its presence in nearly 132 countries across the continents. It is the first time that the Vicar is visiting India, and particularly the institutions of Bangalore Province. He would be visiting few of the prominent institutions in the Province before he leave to other parts of India. His visit added impetus to the Institutions: the Salesians and the students.
Pending approval from the University, Don Bosco College has already initiated the formation of NSS unit in the college this year. The NSS unit would be self-financed as University is still to grant affiliation for new units. However, the students have expressed their strong desire to start NSS in the college, Responding to their requests, the College authorities have listed the volunteers and their first Initiating and formation workshop would be held on 11th November at the College Auditorium. The Program Officer from Christ College, Irinjalakkuda would lead the workshop.
Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, accredited with B+ in its first cycle is holding a National Seminar on January 21st 2023, at the College Auditorium on the Theme: 'Changes in Mental Health Attributes: Post Covid-19 on Children, Youth and Family'. It will be purely academic Seminar with Key Inputs by Resource persons well-versed in the field of Mental Health Studies followed by Paper presentations and discussions. The one day National Seminar targets, Research Scholars, Faculties, Students of Social Work and Psychology and Practitioners in the field of Mental Health. Research Scholars and Faculties are invited to prepare and present Scientific papers during the Seminar. More details would be given soon.
Fresh students are going to be recruited for NCC unit of the College. Preliminary selection round is over and on 10th November, District Officials would give the orientation and final screening for the NCC cadets who would be inducted in to the NCC Unit of the College. 45 students of the First Year degree have listed themselves and expressed their desire to join NCC.
Activities of the Fine Arts commenced with the inauguration by the world's yougest whistle singer Kumari Sourabhya Thimotheous on 21st October, 2022 in the College Auditorium. Dr. Fr. Joy Ullattil SDB (Principal),Fr.Robin Thandel, SDB(Vice Principal),Fr. Shino Joy, SDB (Administrator), Ms.Neethu George(Staff Secretrary) addressed the gathering. Students participated in Various Off-stage and On-stage competitions. The event concluded at 4.00pm.
Don Bosco College is organizing the Convocation of the Degree Awarding Ceremony on 19th September. All the students who passed out during the year 2021 & 2022 would be felicitated during this award dawning ceremony. Both the PG and UG students who are eligible for the reception of the degree certificates are invited. On the same day there will the the Convocation and award dawning of Dr. Lucy Marium Simon, a faculty member of the college who secured the award of Ph.D recently. The awards will be distributed by Prof. Sri. M. A. Ugin Morely, Sindicate member, University of Calicut who will be the Chief Guest of the day.
The Onam Celebrations of the College is scheduled to be held on 2nd September, 2022. The Various Committees are drawn up and preparations are on. The Fresh students too would join the Onam celebrations. The College closes after the celebration for the Onam holidays and resume the classes on 12th September.
This year the students of Don Bosco College will have an opportunity to get to know in detail about the various ADD-ON courses offered in the College through an Add-On Course mela. Nearly 18 agencies offering the various courses would be present and the students can have direct interaction with these agency representatives. The students are given opportunity to choose Add-on Course as per their interests and register for the same. They would get to know the syllabus, scope, fee structure, duration and timings of the course. The parents of the students too are invited to help their wards to choose the appropriate add-on course. The Mela would start at 9 am and end by 12,30 pm.

The BRIDGE COURSE that began on 10th August will come to a conclusion on 27th August Saturday. There will be a short concluding function and distribution of prizes and mementos. This year 130 students participated in the Bridge course. They were given intensive coaching on relevant plus two subjects, English Language and introduction to their new degree subjects. Besides they were also given sessions on personality development, motivation building and study methods.

The College is proud to announce that Ms. Lucy Marium Samuel has successfully defended her Ph.D theses in the public Viva Voce held on 12th Aug. She is now awarded the highest Academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature. Don Bosco college is organizing BRIDGE COURSE for the newly admitted students of the year 2022-23. The awaited program would commence on 9th August and would wind up on 26th August 2022. The above course would be a leveler for students taking admission from different educational plus two boards. The participants would be given an intensive revision of the Plus two syllabus pertaining to the degree course they intent to pursue for the next three years. The high light would also include special coaching in English Grammar, Spoken English, public speaking, personality development, Leadership training, Motivation building, training on study skills etc. This is expected to put the student to a comfortable start at the beginning of the Degree course of study.

A team of around 50 students accompanied by three faculties participated in the Mega National Management Fest organised by the Sahridaya College, Pudukaad, Thrissur. As a part of world pain and palliative care day, students initative in palliative care Thrissur had conducted a program named “RANG 2020†with a tag line “My care, My Rightâ€. The program was held on 15th January 2020 Wednesday at students corner theknkad Thrissur. Around 100 students from Donbosco college participated in the event in co-ordination with CSS unit. Students of donbosco had took part int the cultural events very well. Mime, dance and Musical event performed by donbosco students was very impressive and theme conveying.
Literary Association of Don Bosco College; Mannuthy conducted an intercollegiate Literary Fest Alto Volante on 3rd March 2020. It was inaugurated by R.J Vineeth from Club FM and Anujath Sidhu Vinaylal, the budding artist. The function was presided over by Rev. Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB, our principal and it was felicitated by Rev.Fr. Lijo Kalambadan, SDB, our vice Principal. Ms.Athira M.S, the Association Secretary welcomes the gathering. Ms. Lissy P.V, HOD of the Language Department proposed the Vote of thanks.Different artistic competitions were held as the part of the Fest. Wall Painting and R.J Hunt (Club –FM) were the main attractions. 15. K worth prizes were distributed to the winners. There were participants from various colleges. Alto Volante was a great success as it achieved its aim to offer a venue for showcasing literary and artistic exuberance.

Christmas celebration of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy for the year 2019 was conducted on 20th December 2019.
An ‘Awareness Programme for Migrants laborers’, a district wide campaign, was conducted by Don Bosco KISMAT, was launched in 26th oct 2019 in special collaboration with District Legal Service Authority and other government departments in the Don Bosco college auditorium . The one day awareness programme was inaugurated by Smt. Sophy Thomas (Hon’ble Pri. District and Sessions Judge, Thrissur) the Chairman of DLSA. There were around 400 migrant labourers participated in this awareness programme. The awareness sessions were animated by different government departments. The other government departments involved in this programme were Exicise, Police, Health and Social Justice Deparment. The paticipants were agile active all through the programme. This awareness programme gave a massive awareness about social issues and to have a personal attachment towards Don Bosco and this institution.
As part of police commemoration day a police bullet rally was conducted on 20th Oct 2019. The rally was a colorful event which took the attention of many. A bullet rally, led by cine actor Tovino Thomas along with the City police commissioner Yathish Chandra made the event more successful. The rally was welcomed by Don Bosco college Mannuthy. Hundreds of police personal, ignoring the drizilling joined the rally. The felicitation for the rally was given by Fr. Raju chakkanattu SDB. It was a memorable event in the history of Don Bosco.
Union Day officially inaugurated on 16/10/2019 Wednesday. Cheif guest of the day was Leona Lishoy (cine artist). Programme started at 9.30 am with prayer. Welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Alkesh Vishnu C D (college union chairman). Presidential address by Rev. Fr Raju Chakkanattu SDB (principal). Function inaugurated by chief guest. There was an interactive section between guest and students. Principal presented momento for the cheif guest. Ms Priyanka V J (cheif election officer) declared election results. Oath taking ceremony was led by the principal. Felicitition was done by Rev. Fr Lijo Kalambadan (vice principal). Ms Anjitha A Ajaykumar (vice chairperson) delivered vote of thanks. “ARDUINO : Grow your wings & fly high” -The national seminar was held by the Department of Computer Science& Electronics, on 2nd & 3rd September 2019. It was organized by SAFE(Students Association For Electronics & Computer Science).The aim of the seminar was : over the years, Arduino have been the brain of thousands of projects, from everyday objects to complex scientific instruments due to its simple and accessible user interface. It was a 2 day workshop where everything from basics to the fundamentals was taught to the students.
The visit was organized with prior permission and guidance of our faculty members along with 17 students of M.Com batch (2018-2020) on 9th July 2019 to KKR Agro Mills Pvt. Ltd, Kalady.

The Chief Guest for the Program was Ms. Najeema Unnikammu (HSA Physical Science Kerala Agriculture University HS Vellanikkara). The presidential address was proposed by Fr. The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2019 at Don Bosco College Mannuthy. E- Learning is the buzz word of today’s IT driven education. For equipping teachers with E- learning skills, a one day training program was conducted jointly by the Don Bosco higher education institute, Bangalore and Don Bosco college, Mannuthy in the college auditorium. Dr Geetharamani, Academic Dean of NGP college, Coimbatore inaugurated the training program and handled the first session. The second session was done by Dr. Linda Simon, Principal of ELIMS college the session was about the importance of E- learning in the teaching learning process. Fr. Joy Ullattil SDB, Don Bosco higher education institute coordinator and principal of DBC college , Batheri delivered the presidential address. Fr. Raju chakkanattu SDB ,Principle of DBC Mannuthy gave the welcome address and Fr. Shajan Valavil SDB give away the vote of thanks.e
In connection with the Reading week celebrations, a Book Exhibition was conducted in collaboration with the Cosmo Books on 20th and 21st June 2019 at the reading room of the college. Don Bosco College has witnessed the Women Self Defense program under the Women Cell headed by Ms.Veena Babu.K and Ms.Sakhi.M.P on 27th August 2019 for the empowerment of women through comprehensive awareness and pratical training program in the college.The Chief Guest for the program was Sasidharan Pillai (circle Inspector,Thrissur City Police) The class on women self-defense was conducted by Senior Civil police officers Prathibha.P.K, Shiji.P.B and Civil police officers Sheeja Satheeshan, Cinti.K.L.
On August 22th, 2019, Various commodities from our collection centre were taken off to the Meppadi flood relief camp located at Meppadi Grama Panchayat, Wayanad. The things were handed over to the Panchayath Secretary Mr Johny. The day was really unforgettable and such an effort indeed made us truly happy.
