A session on "How to Kickstart Your Project" was conducted by department of Computer science at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, Thrissur, on 29 July 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the college auditorium. The session was led by Mr. Gopikrishnan P. G., CEO of Grapesgenix Technical Solutions Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable insights on initiating successful academic and technical projects. He explained the importance of selecting relevant project topics, identifying real-world problems, planning project development, choosing suitable technologies, and following a systematic approach to project execution. The speaker also highlighted industry expectations, common mistakes to avoid, and ways to enhance project quality through innovation and teamwork. The session was highly informative, interactive, and beneficial for students, motivating them to approach their projects with confidence and a clear roadmap for success.

The Department of Mathematics, Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, organized an orientation session titled "Introduction to JASP" on 28 July 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the College Auditorium. The session aimed to familiarize students with JASP, a free and user-friendly statistical software widely used for data analysis and research.

The resource person for the session was Ms. Kamarunnisa P. K., Assistant Professor in Statistics, Ansar Women's College, Perumpilavu. She introduced the participants to the basic features and applications of JASP, highlighting its importance in statistical analysis, academic research, and project work. The session covered essential topics such as data entry, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, graphical representation of data, and interpretation of statistical outputs.

The resource person demonstrated the practical use of JASP through live examples, making it easier for students to understand the software's interface and functionality. She also explained how JASP can simplify statistical computations without requiring programming knowledge.

The session was interactive, with students actively participating by asking questions and clarifying their doubts. The orientation provided valuable insights into statistical software and motivated students to explore JASP for their academic and research activities

Novatos Fiesta – Freshers' Day 2026

Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, Thrissur, organized "Novatos Fiesta – Freshers' Day 2026" on 31 July 2026 at the College Auditorium from 1:00 PM onwards. The event was organized by the AZORA College Union to warmly welcome the first-year students and provide them with an opportunity to experience the vibrant campus culture.

The highlight of the celebration was the live performance by renowned DJ Achu, whose energetic music created an exciting and lively atmosphere. Students enthusiastically participated in the event, enjoying music, dance, and interactive sessions that encouraged friendship and camaraderie among the new batch.

The Freshers' Day celebration served as a platform for the newcomers to interact with seniors, faculty members, and fellow classmates, helping them feel welcomed into the Don Bosco family. The event reflected the institution's commitment to fostering a joyful, inclusive, and student-friendly campus environment.

Don Bosco College NSS Unit Secures District-Level Honors at Nasha Mukht Yuva for Viksit Bharat Competition

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit No. 338 of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, participated in the District-Level "Nasha Mukht Yuva for Viksit Bharat" Competition, organized by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Thrissur, in association with the National Service Scheme, Thrissur, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, on 1 August 2026 at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy.

The event featured various competitions, including Group Dance, Mime, Group Song, Painting, Elocution, Slam Poetry, Reel Making, and Slogan Writing, promoting the message of a Drug-Free India.

The NSS volunteers of Don Bosco College delivered outstanding performances and brought laurels to the institution by securing:

  2. 🏆 Third Prize in the District-Level Mime Competition

The programme was designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of R Programming, a powerful open-source software widely used for statistical computing, data analysis, and research.

The workshop was led by Ms. Krishna Mukundan P., Assistant Professor in Statistics, Sri Vyasa NSS College, Wadakkanchery, who served as the resource person for the session. She delivered an engaging and informative presentation on the R programming environment, explaining its significance in modern statistical analysis and research.

During the session, participants were introduced to key concepts including data types, variables, functions, data manipulation, data visualization, and basic statistical analysis using R. The resource person demonstrated practical examples that enabled students to understand the syntax and functionality of the language effectively.

The workshop was designed to equip students with the practical knowledge and skills required to develop well-structured and impactful project proposals.

The resource person for the session was Dr. Subhitha Menon U., Social Safeguard cum Communication Expert, Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP), who shared her extensive expertise in project planning and proposal development. Through an engaging and interactive approach, she guided participants on the essential components of proposal writing, including problem identification, objective formulation, project planning, budgeting, and effective proposal preparation.

The workshop provided students with valuable hands-on experience and practical insights into transforming innovative ideas into feasible and sustainable community development initiatives. Interactive discussions, real-world examples, and collaborative activities further enriched the learning experience, enabling participants to strengthen their project design and critical thinking skills.

The session was led by Mr. Lims Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur.

CHRYSALIS: Convocation Ceremony

CHRYSALIS: Convocation Ceremony 2026 was organized at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy to celebrate the successful graduation of the outgoing students. The programme commenced at 10.00 AM with the Academic Procession, Rangapooja, and Prayer Song by Miss. Liya Maju.

The gathering was welcomed by Dr. Fr. Jimmy Jose SDB, Principal, followed by the Presidential Address by Rev. Fr. Cyril Edamana SDB, Rector and Manager. The Graduation Address was delivered by Dr. Pradeepkumar K, Syndicate Member,University of Calicut, inspiring the graduates to pursue excellence and uphold social responsibility.

The ceremony included the Declaration of Graduation, Endowing of Certificates, and Presentation of Proficiency Awards. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Minu Thomes, Academic Coordinator & Vice Principal, followed by the Declaration of Dissolution, National Anthem, Photo Session, Cap Tossing, and Lunch. The convocation was conducted successfully, marking a memorable milestone in the academic journey of the graduates.

The session introduced students to the IBM Innovation Centre for Education, an initiative in collaboration with Q2D, aimed at enhancing industry-relevant skills and career readiness.

The programme was led by Mr. Nithin Navadath, State Coordinator, QQD Talent Minds Private Limited, and Mr. Akhil Retnakumar, District Coordinator, IBM Q2D Pearl Programme. They highlighted the benefits of IBM certification courses, emerging technology domains, and career opportunities available through the IBM Innovation Centre.

The interactive session motivated students to leverage the platform for skill development, globally recognized certifications, and improved employability.

TECHSERVE -HIGH-TECH PERSONAL & HEALTH GADGETS

The Department of Computer Science, under the Helios Association in association with IQAC, organized a TECHSERVE session on “HIGH-TECH PERSONAL & HEALTH GADGETS” on 10TH July 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the College Auditorium.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. Fr. Jimmy Jose SDB, Principal, Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. In his inaugural address, he encouraged students to stay updated with emerging technologies and make use of such opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills.


The session was handled by Mr. Febin Davis, III AI, who presented the topic "High-Tech Personal & Health Gadgets." He explained the role of advanced health technologies in health monitoring, fitness tracking, and early disease detection, helping participants understand how these innovations improve quality of life while highlighting the importance of their responsible and ethical use.


The program was coordinated by Ms. Josmi P.J and Ms. Femi Joseph,with Mr.Abinav P.B serving as the Student Coordinator. The session was informative and interactive, and students actively participated throughout the program.


The program concluded with a note of appreciation to the resource person, coordinators, and all participants for making the event a success.

BRIDGING HORIZONS 2026

The 'Bridging Horizons 2026' program for first-year students, which commenced on June 22, successfully concluded on June 30. The valedictory ceremony began with a warm welcome delivered by Vice Principal Ms. Minu Thomas. The presidential address was given by the Rector and Manager Rev. Fr. Cyril Edamana SDB, who inspired the new students. Principal Rev. Fr. Dr. Jimmy Joseph SDB then offered a felicitation speech, encouraging the students for their future endeavors. Various cultural programs were presented by the enthusiastic students to celebrate the occasion. Prizes and gifts were distributed to the students who performed well during the course. Course coordinator Ms. Teslin Seby proposed the vote of thanks to conclude the formal event. The program successfully wrapped up, leaving the students motivated for their academic journey.

UNCHAINED – Choose Dreams Over Drugs: Inspiring Students to Build a Drug-Free Society

As part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Mental Health and Wellness Club, the Departments of Social Work and Psychology, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized "UNCHAINED – Choose Dreams Over Drugs" on 29 June 2026.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Fr. Jimmy Jose SDB, who encouraged students to choose a drug-free life and pursue their dreams with determination and purpose.

An informative awareness session was conducted by Mr. Nithin K. N., Civil Police Officer, Munakkakkadavu Police Station, who highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse, its social impact, and the legal consequences associated with the use and trafficking of illicit drugs.

A powerful mime performance presented by the II BSW students effectively conveyed the importance of resisting drug addiction, making responsible life choices, and embracing a healthy and positive lifestyle.

The programme successfully raised awareness, motivated students to stay away from drugs, and inspired them to become responsible citizens committed to building a drug-free society.

GREEN CODE - DIGITAL POSTER DESIGNING AND SPOT PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITIONS

As part of the observance of Eco Oasis - Environment Day 2026, the Department of Computer Science organized Digital Poster Designing and Spot Photography competitions to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to express their creativity through digital media and photography.

The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who showcased their talents by highlighting various environmental themes such as conservation of nature, sustainable living, biodiversity protection, and eco-friendly practices. The events provided a platform for students to demonstrate their technical skills, creativity, and commitment towards environmental responsibility.

In the Digital Poster Designing Competition, Issac C.S (IIIyr BCA) secured the First Prize for his outstanding poster that effectively conveyed the message of environmental conservation through innovative design and impactful visuals.

In the Spot Photography Competition, Nizam Koya (IIIyr BBA) and Sreekanth S Nath (IIIyr BCA)  Shared the First Prize for capturing a compelling photograph that reflected the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving the environment.

The Department of Computer Science extends its heartfelt congratulations to the winners for their remarkable achievements. The department also appreciates and congratulates all the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and valuable contributions, which made the event a grand success.

The resource person for the session was Mr. Lenin Unnikrishnan, Yoga Practitioner from Art of Living. He guided the students through various yoga postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques.
