The inaugural weekly training session for Placement Cell students was held on 17th October 2024 . The session, attended by 31 students of the Placement Cell, was led by Mr. Jerry Johny, who provided insightful guidance on preparing for placements. The session was designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in their placement journey. The key focus of the session was on practical skill development, with an emphasis on understanding the importance of body language during interviews and professional interactions. Students also gained valuable insights into creating impactful resumes and participated in mock interviews, where they received feedback on how to improve their performance and confidence in front of recruiters. Guidelines on how to approach placement readiness were also provided, giving students a structured framework to prepare effectively for their placement opportunities. The feedback from the participants was positive, with students particularly appreciating the practical tips on body language and the mock interview simulations. Overall, the session was highly successful, setting a strong foundation for the upcoming weekly training series. The Placement Cell remains committed to providing continued support and guidance to help students achieve successful placements.
The ED club of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy has set up a daily healthy breakfast programme called "NOURISH & FLOURISH" in the campus." Items like bananas, eggs, protein bars, etc...are available every day from 8:15 am to 8:45 am at a food stall. This initiative is aimed at students who live far from the college, providing them with nutritious breakfast options. The goal of the program is to offer students vitamin-rich meals in the morning, promoting a healthy alternative amidst the fast-food culture.
As part of the Swachhta Hi Seva initiative, on October 2, 2024, NSS volunteers of Unit 338, in collaboration with Pananchery Grama Panchayath, organized a rally. The rally commenced from Pananchery Grama Panchayath and proceeded to Pattikkad Center, aimed at spreading awareness about the significance of October 2nd and the importance of the Swachhta Hi Seva mission. The event concluded at 1 PM at the Panchayath, with active participation from the volunteers, successfully conveying the message of cleanliness and community service.
The Placement Readiness Program was conducted on Friday, 27th September 2024 at the AV Hall, Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. Organized by the Placement Cell, the session aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of what it means to be placement-ready and to equip them with actionable strategies and resources to enhance their employability. The session was led by the Placement cell members. The orientation session commenced with an introduction to the concept of placement readiness, where students were encouraged to align their skills, experiences, and professional profiles with industry expectations. This was followed by a detailed to-do list, which included steps such as resume building, skill development, mock interviews, and networking to systematically prepare for placements
Don Bosco College and Ollukkara Block Panchayat jointly organized the "Waste-Free New Kerala - Swachhta Hi Seva" campaign. The event was inaugurated by Thrissur 19th Division Councillor Beena Murali. The college principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Johnson Ponthempilly, offered his greetings. Senior Public Health Inspector Bijoy Chandran R, Public Health Inspectors Pramod Kumar, Aparna K Venugopalan, and Nikhil Bevin, along with teacher representative Jofi P Vareed, were present at the event. NCC, NSS volunteers from Don Bosco College, Haritha Karma Sena, and corporation workers cleaned the college premises and surrounding areas.
Onam celebrations at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, took place on September 12, 2024. The official program commenced at 9:30 AM with the traditional arrival of Mahabali, symbolizing King Mahabali's homecoming. Fr. Cyril Edamana SDB, our Rector and Manager, and Rev. Dr. Johnson Ponthempilly, Principal, delivered Onam messages, respectively. The celebrations continued with various cultural games. The Chendamelam performance began at 12 PM, and the celebrations concluded by 3 PM, leaving lasting memories of joy and unity.
The ED Club of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy organized a food fest named "Thiruvonam Ruchiyonam" in connection with Onam. The food fest featured around thirteen items, including snacks and cool drinks. The event, organized by all the students, was a huge success. The program, which started at 10 AM, concluded by 2 PM.
The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics have organized a seminar on“Latest Trends in AI” for III BCA, III BSc.CS, III BSc.Maths and I B.Sc. AI students on September 6 th 2024, for providing the students about AI and new aspects of the IT industry as part of their syllabus.A total of 106 students with staff members accompanied with them. The session was about the influence of Artificial Intelligence in current technologies and various job opportunities regarding the same. The session was fascinating and students were very much engaged with industrial expert talks.
The Teachers Day celebration at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy was held on September 5th , 2024.The programme was conducted by the collective efforts of Drama & Theatre Club and Literature & Debate Club,it was a memorable event to honour and express gratitude to the educators who have dedicated their lives to shape young minds.The students had also prepared personalized flowers and cards which was presented to their teachers by the students in various departments. Overall the Teacher’s Day celebration was a grand success. It was not only a day of fun and enjoyment but also an opportunity for the students to recognize the pivotal role of teachers play in their lives.

A research orientation programme was conducted on August 21,2024 at the AV hall.This engaging session was led by the esteemed Rev. Dr. Babu Payikkattu, provided invaluable insights into the intricacies of the research process and the essential characteristics of a successful research study.Dr. Babu 's expertise illuminated the path for us as we delved into the fundamentals of conducting meaningful research. Through his guidance, we were equipped with a deeper understanding of the methodologies and approaches that underpin scholarly inquiry. The session was not only enlightening but also inspiring, instilling in us a greater appreciation for the scholarly pursuit of knowledge. Each element of the research journey was meticulously unpacked and discussed, offering us a roadmap to navigate the complexities of academic inquiry with confidence and clarity.
Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, successfully conducted the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Student Competition on August 19, 2024, marking another milestone in fostering creative and entrepreneurial talent among students. Different departments participated in the competition, showcasing the diverse talents and innovative ideas of the students. The teams represented the Management Department, the Commerce Department, and the English Department. All participants presented their ideas with confidence and creativity, reflecting the hard work and preparation they had put into their projects.
The 24 Kerala Battalion NCC Wing of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, held Ranking ceremony of Cadets on August 13, 2024, in the college auditorium. During the event, Principal Fr. Johnson Ponthempilly addressed the students, emphasizing the dignity of the NCC. The ceremony honored 16 cadets with various ranks. Ahammed Sibil, third year BBA student, was appointed as Senior Under Officer, while Ashbin Eldhose and Ardhra C.K. were ranked as Junior Under Officers. Final year students Amith P M ranked as CSM and Vismaya P S was selected as CQMS. Sergeant, Corporal, and Lance Corporal ranks were also awarded during the ceremony. NCC Trainer Sir Jacob, Vice Principal Fr. Jimmy Ponnath, and NCC in-charges Mr. Vijay Bastin and Ms. Teslin Seby joined the Principal in honoring the cadets.
NSS unit 338 organized an anti drug awareness campaign including a pledge ceremony and a placard making and displaying. A pledge ceremony was conducted, where 1st year students , 2nd year volunteers and assistant program officer Delma miss took an oath to stay away from drugs and promote a drug-free campus. Volunteers created and distributed placards with anti-drug slogans and messages to students. And displayed the placards during the assembly the next day, showcasing their creativity and spreading awareness
On 10th August 2024, NSS Unit 338 conducted the "Pustaka Thanal" program at SOS Village, Mulayam, Thrissur,NSS leaders Vandana murali and Ananda narayana Sharma along with the program officer and the other volunteers handed over the collected books and crayons to the children. After that the cultural programs began. The children from SOS village and the NSS voluntees actively participated in cultural events. The initiative was well-received, and the children were delighted to receive a variety of books and crayons. Ranging from storybooks to educational materials, which will undoubtedly contribute to their learning and development. The event was a meaningful effort to promote literacy and provide valuable resources to the children of SOS Village.
The KUTTIYIDAM- Collection Center initiative, hosted by the NSS unit at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, was a significant effort to support landslide-affected children in Wayanad. The event not only provided immediate relief through collected donations but also fostered a sense of unity and collective responsibility among the participants. Continued efforts and similar initiatives are essential to support the well-being and development of affected children in Wayanad. The collected items were handed over to the Wayanad Collection Center by Mr. Ajeesh, Mr. Antony, and two students from the NSS unit of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy.
An orientation and field training programme was conducted for the social work students of Don Bosco College on 26 July 2024 in collaboration with Alpha Palliative Care Services. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Johnson Ponthempilly, principal of the college. Ms.Mary Theresa , Head of Department of Social Work chaired. The orientation session was led by Mr. Suresh, Director of Alpha Palliative Care. He introduced the subject of palliative care and explained its dimensions. Examples drawn from field helped the students gain an insight into palliative care as a holistic concept. Opportunity was thrown open to students to involve in initiatives during field practice. Ms. Arya gave vote of thanks.
Don Bosco College, language department and Malayala Manorama Daily , jointly organized a "Vayana Kalari" and a Vaikom Muhammed Basheer Memorial event in the College Campus at Mannuthy today(22 July 2024). Fayasko Group owner Lali Payas inaugurated the function by handing over a copy of Manorama Daily to the College Principal Rev. Dr. Johnson Pontebili. Later, students performed characters from Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's stories on the stage. Rev. Dr. Johnson Pontebili presided over the event. In the event where Administrator Rev. Fr. Shinoy Joy gave the felicitation , the teacher representative Ms. Jofi P. Vareed welcomed the guests on behalf of the College and student representative Ms. Anisha gave the vote of thanks.
The Department of Commerce conducted an Entrepreneurial Workshop on ‘Business Startup Essentials’ on 19th July from 11:00 A.M. in AV Hall. The Resource person of the Workshop was Ms.Sumila Jayaraj, Founder, GreenAqua International. The workshop provided an opportunity for the students to interact with the resource person whose rich experience contributed to the budding of entrepreneurial spirit. The Objective of the workshop was to provide a platform for developing innovation skills and zeal among the students to have their own Start-ups and provide first-hand experience about starting a successful startup. At the end of this workshop, Dr.Fr.Johonson Ponthempilly SDB, Principal expressed his gratitude to the Speaker, whose support has made this workshop possible. Around 47 students participated.
The "Foundations of Success" orientation for final year BA English students included key contributions from Principal Dr. Fr. Johnson Ponthempilly SDB, Ms. Sruthy PU, HOD and Ms. Minu Thomes. Principal Dr. Fr. Johnson Ponthempilly SDB opened the event with a welcoming speech. The speaker, Ms. Sruthy PU then explained the project rules and regulations and offered practical advice on how to complete a project effectively. HOD Ms. Minu Thomes outlined the support and resources available from the department. Program Coordinator Ms. Anitta Louis organized the session and clarified its goals. The orientation successfully provided students with the essential information and tools needed for their final-year projects.
The Computer Science Department in association with IQAC organises an Internship“Coding Conquerors” Orientation programme for final year Computer Science (BCA and BSc CS) Students in the auditorium at 8 th July,2024. The speaker, Mr. Nikhi Krishnan (Technical Architect and Managing Director at Emdeon Digital ServicesPrivate Limited) explained with a computer science internship, how you can work in a professional capacity over the course of a semester. Also, gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills. The orientation successfully provided students with the essential information and tools needed for their final-year projects.
The convocation ceremony was held on July 5, 2024, with great enthusiasm and pride. The Chief Guest for the event was Prof. Dr.Vincent V. J., former controller of examinations,Kannur university,whose presence added to the significance of the occasion. Graduates from various programs received their graduation certificates. The programs included:M.Com,M.Sc Electronics,B.Com (CA, Finance, Banking),BBA,B.Sc Computer Science,B.Sc Mathematics,BCA,BA English. Following the distribution of certificates, the graduates participated in cap tossing ceremony, symbolizing their transition from students to graduates. Additionally, the rank holders from the Electronics department were honored with special awards, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements. The ceremony was a memorable event, celebrating the hard work and dedication of the graduates and marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.
The FYUP bridge course, themed "Holistic Development with Don Bosco," was inaugurated at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, by Rev. Dr. Thomas Koonan SDB. The event, presided over by College Principal Rev. Dr. Johnson Ponthempilly SDB, featured a message from Vice Rector Rev. Fr. Devassy Kutty Kollamkudy SDB and well-wishes from Administrator Rev. Fr. Shino Joy SDB. The Academy Coordinator, Mr.Antony P. James, delivered the welcome speech, and the Head of the English Department, Ms.Minu Thomas, expressed the vote of thanks. The students coordinators are Adithya P S and Ivine Dixon are also part of this program. The week-long program includes diverse activities enriching the students' experience. The week-long knowledge acquisition camp, both within and outside the college, includes curricular and extracurricular activities. Each moment with the Salesian priests, who have been standing with the youth for the past twenty years, provided new experiences for the students.
Don Bosco College Mannuthy organized an awareness workshop for students of NSS Unit 338 on the theme "Importance and history of Blood Donation" as part World Blood Donors Day. Principal Dr.Fr.johnson ponthempally SDB presided over the program. The chief guest at the event was Assistant Scientist T. Satyanarayan who retired from the Department of Transfusion Medicine of the Medical College and delivered the keynote speech. He briefly explained about the evolution of blood donation from the Pope Innocent 7 who taken blood from three young men, then William Harvey identified that blood flowed through the blood vessels in one direction to new technologies in blood transfusion called Apheresis, that separates blood into its components by density.NSS Program Officer Ajeesh A.S. and Assistant Program Officer Delma were present in the ceremony.

Pananchery Grama Panchayat Thanipadam Ward Member Jalajan presided over the function and Vice President Mrs. Savitri Sadanandan planted a fruit tree and inaugurated the event.Danny, Head of Employment Guarantee, delivered the Environment Day Pledge. PG Department of Commerce celebrated world environment day with a shared vision of making our planet green to combat desertification. ‘Donate a Plant’ initiative was inaugurated by gifting a plant to the principal Rev Dr Johnson Ponthempilly SDB. Rev Fr Jimmy Ponnath vice principal, IQAC co ordinator Mr. Antony P James were also part of this initiative . Saplings were also planted by the students in the college compound.
The BBA Department celebrated Environment Day with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability on June 5, 2024, at the college auditorium. The event was inaugurated by the Corporation Counsellor, Beena Muraly, who delivered an insightful speech on the importance of environmental protection and the careful use of resources. The ceremony featured the symbolic handing over of the first sapling by the Principal, Fr. Dr. Johnson Ponthanpilly, to the Corporation's 19th Ward Counsellor, Beena Muraly, who served as the chief guest of the program. In celebration of Don Bosco's 19th anniversary, students distributed the remaining 19 saplings to households in the 19th Ward.

Women cell in association with IQAC conducted a adolescent health awareness program on 06/03/2024 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at AV hall as a part of international women’s day. Regarding with it Dr(Lt.Col) B. Vibin(MBBS,MS,F.MAS,D.MAS) from Amala hospital was taken the class. The class was on adolescents, the changes that take place in their body during this period, menstruation, usage and benefits of menstrual cup etc. 43 students were present in the class and teachers too. It was a great experience to the students and the class lasted for almost one hour and then had interactive session.

The Sports Day commenced with a warm welcome address by Fr. Joy Ullattil SDB, setting the tone for the event. Mr. Lanel Thomas M, the esteemed recipient of the G V Raja award for the best footballer, inaugurated the program by hoisting the flag, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship. Following the inauguration, two exhilarating games finals were conducted - Football and Cricket. In the Football match, the Department of English faced off against the 3rd year BBA team, with the Department of English emerging victorious. Meanwhile, in the Cricket match, the 3rd year BBA team competed against the 3rd year BCom Finance team, with the former clinching the win. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by General Captain Mr. Arjun, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and attendees for making the Sports Day a memorable and successful event.

Vidyadharan Master , Music Composer, and Playback Singer captivated the audience with his insightful inaugural address, emphasizing the importance of education, art, and culture in shaping the future generation.The stage came alive with mesmerizing performances by the students, showcasing their talents in dance and music. The audience was enthralled by the diversity and skill displayed by the young performers.Following the student performances, the faculty members took the stage with an energetic and spirited dance performance, demonstrating their enthusiasm and camaraderie.The evening culminated with an electrifying music session, where students and teachers alike immersed themselves in the rhythm and melody, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration.
The NSS volunteers of Don Bosco College spend more than 5 hours at the SOS village close to Mannuthy Town doing campus cleaning, vegetable garden planting and setting up water cups for birds to tide over the hot summer.
The NSS Unit of the college celebrated women's day by organizing a Seminar on the theme: Women and Legal Aid. The session was handled by Adv. Anumol N.R. The NSS volunteers also felicitated all the women faculty members during the program.
The NSS Volunteers of the College, participated in the "Walkathon" organized by the District Administration at the District Headquarters. Hundreds of NSS volunteers from various NSS units of the colleges and Schools had taken part in the program held in the Thrissur Swaraj Round.
The final selection of the team players for the Don Bosco Football academy was done during the month of February and the academy players are officially inducted on 26th February with Don Bosco Jercies and Boots.
The College Management, NSS, PTA and Rotary Club joined hands to raise funds and build a house for a deserving family. The laying of the foundation stone and starting of the construction was done on 23rd Friday 2024 by Fr. Cyril Edamana, the Manager of the College. The blessing of the house site and the laying of the corner stone was witnessed by NSS Volunteers and Program Officer. The house construction is expected to be completed within three months..
The Computer Department of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy organized a one day Tech Fest inviting participants from various colleges in and around Thrissur District. The Competition items were of good standard and based Computer knowledge, Computer skills and technical skills. The fest was attended by nearly 250 participants.
The Staff of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy went for a One day Picnic to Kannur Vismaya Water Theme Park on 18th February.
Annual Faculty Development Program organized by the Don Bosco Higher Education of Bangalore Province on 17th February at Don Bosco College, Angadikadavu, Kannur. The program was meant to enhance , knowledge and Skill of faculties of Five Don Bosco College. The chief Resource person was Dr. Shafeeque V, Resource Officer, Kerala State Higher Education Reforms. From Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, 44 participants including the Principal, Vice Principal and Administrator took active part.
The Arts - Day of the college for the year 2023-24 was celebrated on Feb.9th 2024. Preliminary competitions both On- Stage and Off Stage items were held earlier and only the finals were performed on the day. There were 45 cultural items selected for the various competitions in which over 200 participants competed. The Arts day was inaugurated by Mr Arjun KC, a renowned Vocalist and Music producer and Director. The College Union took the initiative to see to the over all preparation and execution of the event supported by the faculties. The student body was divided into four groups and the competition was among these. The winners were given certificates and Trophies.
Twenty NSS Volunteers spent a night and a whole day, for the preparation and distribution of food items as part of the Biriyani Challenge organized by the Past Pupils of Govt. LP School, Peechi with the purpose of raising funds to support the School. NSS Volunteers. The School had requested the help of the NSS volunteers for this. Govt. LP School Peechi is part of the Village adopted by the NSS Unit of the College. The School authorities commented on the dedicated service rendered by the NSS volunteers headed by Mr. Ajeesh the Program Officer, Don Bosco College. The Volunteers packed and sold 2500 Biriyani packets to those who had placed orders. The money collected is set apart for the Mid-day meal scheme for the children in the school.
The Department of Mathematics visited an Old Age home run by the " Little Brothers of Jesus' at Thrissur and spent quality time with the inmates interacting with them and entertaining them with cultural items. The students also provided food for the inmates.
The Feast of St.John Bosco, the Patron under whose name the College has its existence was celebrated on 31st January. The students were served sweets in honour of the feast. Rev. Fr. Davis Pulikkotti, the Vicar of Our Lady's of Lourdes Forane Church, Thrissur, presided over the Celebration. All the invitees were given a sumptuous feast day following the Eucharistic celebration.
The NCC and the NSS units of the College participated in the Republic Day Rally organized by the District Authorities in the Town. Don Bosco Units were very much appreciated for their performance both in discipline, Parade, number of participants and cultural show put up during the Rally. The District Mayor Mr. Varghese, awarded the Don Bosco NCC and NSS units for their active participation.
The NCC and the NSS volunteers along with students and Staff celebrated the Indian Republic Day on the morning of January 26th. The National flag was hoisted by Mr. John K, a CBI Police Officer, the parent of one Alwin K John ( IInd BCA)., in the presence of the College, Manager, Principal and others. The Principal, Dr. Joy Ullattil gave the Repubcic Day Message and distributed sweets thereafter.

The NSS Unit of Don Bosco College organized a Blood Donation Camp in association with District Hospital , Thrissur. The donors sere students and staff from the College itself. Over 50 donors contributed their blood to the Blood bank of the District Hospital
On January 20, 2024, Don Bosco College Mannuthy hosted a job fair in collaboration with G tec,Don Bosco college and Ollukkara Block Panchayat. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the college principal, Dr. Fr. Joy Ullattil SDB, who delivered a welcoming speech, setting the tone for the day. The presidential address was delivered by Mr. K R Ravi, followed by the inaugural address by Smt. Latha Chandra. Representatives from 38 leading companies conducted job interviews for 440 candidates and out of which 400 are shortlisted and 40 candidates are selected from the job fair. As a part of International Youth Day, the NSS volunteers of Don Bosco college visited the Anganwadi and spend the day with the children there. They cleaned the surroundings, entertained the children, and distributed gifts. The volunteers showcased various talents and gave the children at the Anganwadi a wonderful and enjoyable time.
Nss unit 338 conducted cancer Awareness class under CAN THRISSUR programme. Cancer awareness class by junior health inspector Rohini for the NSS volunteers .Beginning with a general outlook on all types of cancers, JHI Rohini moved on to talk about the lifestyle changes that are resulting in an increase in breast cancer cases.She highlighted the importance of regular self-inspection and clinical selfexamination for the early detection of cancer.
On December 20th, 2023 the volunteers of NSS unit no.338, Don Bosco College Mannuthy organized a Christmas celebration with the children of Senha Deepthi special school. The event aimed to spread joy and happiness among the special school children and create a festive atmosphere for them. The volunteers arranged a variety of activities for the children, including a dance performance and carol singing. The dance performance showcased the talents of the volunteers and brought smiles to the faces of the children. The carol singing added to the festive spirit of the event and created a heartwarming atmosphere. The volunteers also distributed sweets to the children, further adding to the joy of the occasion. The children actively participated in the celebration and expressed their gratitude for the thoughtful gesture.Overall, the Christmas celebration was a resounding success, bringing joy and happiness to the special school children and fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
Department of Social Work observed World AIDS Day by performing flash mob followed by a mime and awareness class for Interstate Migrant Workers at Kuttenallur Bypass Junction The program was conducted on 1st Dec 2023 .It started with a general introduction to the ISMs in Hindi regarding the program, then a short flash mob ,followed by which was a Mime, this was performed by the Social Work students .After both the programs a small awareness session was taken by the faculty Dept of Social Work in Hindi . The program was a fruitful one and was supported by Ollur Police Station with their presence in the program site and interactions .

As part of the extension activity of the Dept. Of English, BA English students visited an old age home, 'Ashrayabhavanam', Nadathara on 22nd November and arranged lunch for the inmates. Games and cultural programmes were also organized. The visit was a heartwarming experience for both the students and inmates.
English department conducted an extension program at Mukkattukara Government LP School on November 20 & 21 , where our BA English first and second year students led engaging classes for 2nd standard students. The camp was inaugurated by Principal of Don Bosco College Mannuthy, Rev. Fr. Dr Joy Ullattil SDB, on 18th Nov 2023 at 7.00 PM by hoisting the NSS flag while the volunteers sang the NSS song. Soon after the inauguration, the programme started with an ice-breaking session, including lots of fun games and entertainment, lead by Fr. Joy and the program officer of NSS-338, Mr. Ajeesh A.S. The dinner was served at 8:30 PM.Following dinner, was a variety of talent shows presented by the volunteers. They performed various art forms and made a cheerful atmosphere.Students shared their review about the first day which completed day 1 activities. By 10:30 PM the volunteers retired to bed. The 2nd day started with an energizing Yoga Session, led by Milind, a fellow volunteer, after which the breakfast was served. By 9 in the morning, the volunteers gathered at the A V Hall for much awaited orientation session by the Principal. The session wad about the various habits one should follow to build a leader in themselves. It was followed by a fun session with the program officer who taught the basics of National Service Scheme but made the session enjoyable. Later, Mr. Lijo Joseph, faculty in Department of Management, at Don Bosco college Mannuthy, joined the camp and gave the students a fun time introducing various games to them while teaching them how to work as a team while building individual bonding. The students enjoyed the session. Towards the end of the camp, everyone shared their thoughts and reviews about the camp as a whole, followed by which the flag was lowered marking an end to the camp. Shortly after the lunch wad served. The volunteers were dispersed at 3:00 pm. The camp helped the volunteers gain the much needed insights on how to prepare themselves to work as a team and inspired them to think about the various aspects in which they can improve themselves as a person and contribute to the society
On the ocassion of children's day celebration,our Nss unit conducted a friendly football match with Snehadeepthy special school. All Nss volunteer's were assembled in the college ground by 2.30 pm.The match was started by 2.45 pm in the presence of Manager Fr.Cyril edamana SDB,Principal Dr.Fr.Joy ullatil SDB, vice principal Fr.Robin Mathew SDB, Rector Rev. The college union organized a cultural event to commemorate KeralaPiravi day on November 1st, 2023.Much awaited Malayali Manga & Maran competition was conducted with pomp and honors,which attracted wide participants.Sibil of second BBA and Athira of first BA English Bagged the titles of Malayali Manga & Maran.Various cultural events also added color to the program.
Department of Commerce and Department of Management organized a Commerce and Management Fest called ' Dhyuthi 2023 ' on 20th October 2023. The main purpose of the event was to boost the creativity and competitive spirit among the students. Our chief guest was Mr Christo Davis ( Head HR & Administration, Joy Alukkas group, India operations). He addressed the gathering with his inspiring words. The inaugural function started at 9.30 AM in the college auditorium. The welcome speech was delivered by Ms. Veena Babu K ( HoD, Commerce). Presidential address was given by Rev. Fr. Dr.Joy Ullatil SDB and Felicitation was given by Rev. Fr. Shino Joy SDB. Rev. Fr. Robin Mathew SDB presented the memento to the chief guest. The event had the participation of almost 280 students from 25 colleges. The event was concluded by a valedictory session at @6.00 p.m. Overall, it was a fulfilling and enriching experience for all the participants.
The College Students Union for the year 2023-24 was inaugurated on17th October in the College Auditorium. Mr. Anandhu Gopinath, an upcoming Musician, and Music director was the Chief guest. The Union leaders took oath of office and the Chairman Mr. Vishnu K K gave the presidential address announcing the various activities, the Union plans to implement during the year.
The South Indian Bank of the Mannuthy Town gifted 12 LCD projectors costing Rs. 576000/- to the College as part of their CSR fund. The bank officials handed over the draft for the same. The LCD projectors are now installed in the various classrooms. Currently 75% of the classrooms of the college has LCD facility. Thanks to Fr. Shino the Administrator who facilitated the negotiation and transfer.
The Commerce and Management Fest Christened as DHYUTHI) is to be held on 20th October. The two departments of Commerce and Management have sprung to action and hectic preparations are being done. They expect participation from nearly 35 colleges from the various colleges of the State .
Department of Psychology as key devote to World Mental Health Day organized an awareness program to address the importance of mental health. The program conducted on October 10 th 2023 by students of Psychology Department. An introduction was given by Ms. Angel Rose, the student of Second Psychology about the world mental health day. The awareness program was included with a flash mob and a chart work prepared by the psychology students. The program was witnessed by the whole college including Principal, Vice Principal and other dignitaries of the college. The program went successful which also attracted diverse range of audience.
Don Bosco College participated in the national level commemoration and celebration of Meri Maati Meri Desh. It was a program intended to bring home to the youth the idea of National Unity and Harmony. Students brought a handful of mud from their homes and filled a pot in the college in the presence of teachers and later the pot would form part of the grater event of pots being brought from various other institutions and then would be joined to the National level gathering of pots from various States and Districts of India.
Department of Psychology in association with Department of Social Work of Don Bosco College , Mannuthy organised a clinical visit to InMind Hospital(Institute of Mind and Brain) ,Athani ,on 4 th October 2023 . The total of 31 students of 1 st year BSc. Psychology and BSW went for the visit.The program started with an IP tour in the hospital (including short film and orientation). The session was conducted by Dr. Vineeth MBBS MD Phd Scholar(NIMHANS) consultant psychiatrist of the hospital about eye tracking . Later on a session was conducted Ms.Nandana , social worker of the hospital regarding sound mind and patient satisfaction analysis .After the session students were made into 3 group containing 10 students each and made them learn how to do administrator BDI , MOCA and MHA and that helped the students to understand much more about administering assessments. .The next session was reading psychotherapy and relaxation technique which was conducted by Ms.Swetha P.S and Ms. Jesny James, Assistant Psychologist of IN MIND Hospital.Later another session started by Dr. Manoj Therayil Kumar ,MD ,DNB MNAMS MPH DipCBT(Oxford)FRCPsych ,Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist and Director of IN MIND Hospital given an online session clarifying the doubts of the students .The program ended by a question-answer round and students participated well and raised their queries which helped students to revise every session that was given by them.. The clinical visit was really an exposure for psychology students as it provides an insight into the real working environment and helped to understand about the functioning of hospital. It was a good opportunity to interact with the experts and helped to enhance their interpersonal skills.
Several NSS volunteers of Don Bosco College NSS Unit participated in the National Swatch Bharat Mission activities on the Ist of October. They took up cleaning activities in the surroundings of their residences. It was encouragement, inspiration and creation of awareness to the neighborhood.
The 24 Battalion of Thrissur District Officials arrived at the College to conduct the recruitment of new NCC cadets for the Don Bosco Unit. After the various tests, 34 candidates were selected and enrolled in to the NCC
The Final Year Students of the Computer Department accompanied by a Staff member visited the IT park at Kochi. There they had two hours of session by one of the Directors on the emerging IT Solutions. The students were enlightened through the session and the QA sessions.

Efficiently coordinated by Miss Sruthy P U, the Lit-Talk series remained true to its commitment of fostering thoughtful discussions. The Department of Management successfully conducted a motivational session on Business Ethics and values by Mr.Rahul A.R, Co-founder and CEO of Viswavedha School of Thoughts on 27th September 2023 for the first year BBA students and B.com students at 10am.It was an amazing session that help students to aware about ethics and values of the business. He has made the whole session an interactive one by motivating students to open up and also encourage them to give the answers for the questions asked.

NSS Special camp for the year 2023 was held at Govt. LP school Peechi about 12 km from Mannuthy. the camp lasted seven days with a participation of 49 NSS volunteers. The Activities were held mainly in the adopted village, Thamaravilachal an Sc/St Colony. The Revenue Minister of Kerala Mr. K Raman visited the NSS amp and extended words of appreciation and support.

As a tribute to Kerala's unique culture and traditions, the NSS Unit of Don Bosco College Mannuthy organized an exhibition about the importance of the month of Karkidakam. The volunteers put up charts describing the valuable history of Kerala in association with this month.The highlights of the month being the medicinal porridge which is believed to keep one away from diseases. The ten herbs , The ten flowers , and The nine grains were all gathered and exhibited with each of their importance mentioned.The exhibition was an awareness on how we should embrace our culture while moving forward.
As the part of Campus Cleaning Campaign,the NSS unit of Don Bosco College Mannithy conducted campus cleaning.The task was, plucking out the weed growing in the ground premises and making space for cultivating other crops. Tools were provided to each group of NSS students and the team leaders guided their respective teams.

The Bridge course meant to prepare the students to begin the Degree studies came to a conclusion on Saturday 29th. All the participants and the concerned teachers attended the function, chaired by the Principal. Prior to the conclusion, an evaluation was held and feed back from the participants were sought regarding the 10 days of Bridge course. The participants unanimously opined that the Bridge course was very useful and it gave them tremendous confidence and motivation to enter in to the degree studies. They thanked the Organizers and the teachers for the wonderful way it was customized and executed.

The Bridge course for the newly admitted students to Don Bosco College, Mannuthy was inaugurated on 18th July, by Rev. Fr. Cyril Edamana, the Manager of the College. 110 fresh students have joined the course from various streams. The Classes are well organized and customized to cater to the new students hailing from diverse schools and disciplines. The purpose of the Bridge course is to build confidence in the students by revising the relevant lessons of the plus two syllabus and also introducing the subjects in Ist semester. Besides, Spoken English, Motivation classes, Elocution, Grammar , basics of Computer and Commerce are also handled by the teachers.

Targeted audience comprised of Final year English UG students of Don Bosco College and St. Mary’s College. Dr. Dhanumol C. M., Assistant Professor, Department of English, Don Bosco College, Mannuthi was the resource person. She introduced the topic from its very basic premise and then went on expounding the ways to do research in literature, while keeping it as interactive as possible. Her mastery on the topic was evident in the dexterity with which she explained some least explored research areas for a deeper study with an academic outlook. The session aimed to raise awareness among final year degree students about road safety. The one-hour class covered topics such as traffic rules, road signs, defensive driving, pedestrian safety, and more. Mr. Jayan shared his knowledge and experiences, engaging the students through discussions and interactive activities. The students actively participated and showed interest in learning responsible driving practices. The World Environment Day celebrations at the college were inaugurated REv.Fr. Cyril Edamna, the Manager of the Institution. At eh inaugural function he gave a message depicting our responsibility to protect and preserve the nature. He inaugurated the distribution of tree saplings to the college students who would in turn plant them in their home premises.
The Academic year 2023-24 was inaugurated at the College by Rev. Fr. Cyril Edamana, the Rector and Manager of the college on 5th June 2023. The students of the 2nd and third undergraduate students were beginning their classes on this day after their summer vacations. The Function was held in the College auditorium in the morning. During which The new Manager, and new Faculties were introduced and welcomed.
In a remarkable display of social commitment, 85 young members of the Don Bosco Youth Centre in Ollukkara rallied together to provide much-needed assistance to 70 impoverished children in their locality. With their collective efforts, the youth raised funds to purchase bags and notebooks for the underprivileged children, easing the financial burden on their families and supporting their educational pursuits. Going beyond the act of donation, the youngsters took a personalized approach by personally delivering the supplies to each child's home, fostering a sense of connection and care. Don Bosco Youth Center Mannuthy, celebrated the World Environment day by organizing a free distribution of tree saplings to people of the neighborhood of the College. The program was inaugurated Fr. Cyril Edamana, the Manager of the institution. The Principal, Dr. Joy Ullattil gave the message appreciating the youth and then creating awareness on the need, urgency and responsibility of everyone to join this effort to protect the earth by making the nature greener .
Don Bosco Youth Center, Ollukara, Thrissur is organizing the 8th All Kerala Fives Flood lite Foot Ball Tournament on 21st and 22nd of May. The Tournament is held at the Flood lite Stadium at Don Bosco College Mannuthy. There are 16 selected teams taking part in the Tournament. The finals would be held on 22nd evening. The Tournaments are held in the evening in the newly, renovated flood lite grass turf.
Announcing Don Bosco Summer camp for school going students from 5th standard to 12th completed. The Program is organized by the College, to provide opportunities for the local school children to engage the Summer holidays usefully. The program includes spoken English classes, Leadership and Personality development programs, Music class and Football coaching. The whole program lasts one full month from 19th April to 19th May. Summer Camp for Children of the neighborhood of the College began on 19th April. There are 32 participants on the first day and the number is set to increase in the coming days.
The Career and Placement Cell in Association with Salesian Cooperators organized a one day training on Employability tips. The Session was handled by a well known Motivational Speaker and trainer; Mr. Midhun Mitwa. The session lasted three hours and the students were inspired and motivated to pursue their career. The second year students of BBA, and BCom nearly 100 of them participated.
The Third Faculty Development Program for the teaching members of the College was conducted on 18th March at Don Bosco College, Kottiyam- Kollam. The FDP was organized by the Don Bosco Higher Education Institutions of Bangalore Province. 33 of the faculties from Don Bosco College Mannuthy attended the training program. There were a total of 134 participants from 4 different Don Bosco College across Kerala. The session were led by Dr. Vineeta, Assistant Professor, Calicut University and Dr. Biju from Fathima College, Kerala University.
The Women's Day was celebrated on March 8th. This year the program was organized in collaboration with the the Don Bosco College Cooperators. The Women's Cell of the College took the initiative to make the local arrangements. Prof. Dr. Ap Usha, Director of Farms of Kerala Agricultural University was the Chief Guest. While Mrs. Biji Mathew HoD of Logic School of management, Ernakulam conducted a valuable the session related to women empowerment. On the same day all the women administrative staff members were honored by the College.
The College Day was celebrated on 7th March in the College. The College Union along with the staff members saw to the arrangements. Its after two years that College day was celebrated as Covid -19 had disrupted the celebrations earlier. The Staff and Students had made much preparations for the great day. The College Day celebrations was inaugurated by Mr. Engandiyoor Chandrasegharan, a well known poet and lyricist. It was followed by cultural Items by the Students. Later, The Kalabhavan Music Band performed their music band for about 2 hours led by Mr. Jojo the Director. In the afternoon, The whole crowd of students went on to festive dance to the rhythm of DJ Music band .
The NSS Volunteers of Don Bosco College, spend a day with elderly people who are abandoned by their families and are now being looked after at Ashreya Bhavan near Nadathara - Thrissur. There were 44 inmates mostly elderly women and few men. Few of them were invalid and were confined to their beds. The couple: Mr. Peter and Mrs. Leena peter are running the home for the aged since past 22 years. The inmates are brought by the Police and Social Workers and were contacted from the streets, railway stations and Bus stands. They belong to various states of India. The NSS Volunteers distributed food and spend two hours entertaining them and listening to them.
The Economer General of the Salesian Congregation, Rev.Bro. Muller Jean Paul, paid a short visit to the College Community on 23rd February. The Economer General is one of the General Councilors of the Congregation in charge of all the Economic matters. It is the first time that he is visiting India. His visit was part of the National level Meeting of the Provincial Councilors of the Indian Provinces at Hyderabad which is scheduled to take place from 1st March to 5th 2023
The College Staff went on a one day tour to Wayanad on 18-02-2023. There were 39 participants including the administrative staff. The day was enjoyable with visit to Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery, Banasura dam and Vaithiri Park.
The Second year B.Com and BBA students had a two hour Seminar on Entrepreneurship by Mrs. Santhi, an women Entrepreneur from Thrissur. She narrated her experience of how she initiated a Small Scale Unit producing Herbal food products and rose to great success. The students were very much inspired by her experience and instructions on how to initiate start-ups and sustain it.
The Final Year Students had a two hour session on Employability training and skills led by Mr. Praveen Kumar and team for an Educational Consultancy Agency named 'Next Level having its center at Thrissur.
TEACH - (Thrissur Educational And Charitable Hub) is an initiative of Don Bosco Past Pupils. This year is the Tenth year of its inception. The Decennial Celebrations were inaugurated by the Thrissur Mayor Mr. M.K Varghese in the presence of the founder head Rev.Fr. Varghese Thannippara the then Principal of Don Bosco College. The TEACH has instituted Student Scholarships to deserving students studying at Don Bosco College, besides several other Educational and Charitable activities. International Motivational Speaker Mr. Praveen Kumar conducted a one and half hour session to the Fist Year Students of the College after the Inauguration of the Celebration.
The NSS Unit (Unit No.338) of Don Bosco College has come up with a novel idea of raising funds towards the construction of the Snehabhavanam ( a home for homeless}) by collecting E-WASTE from the locality. The concept is to gather E-Waste from the surrounding institutions and houses. The program was announced and inaugurated at the college on 1st February. The Volunteers are set to gather as many e-waste materials as possible from the surrounding areas with the help of the students in the College. The collected materials are to be sold to raise some money towards the house construction.
The College Celebrated the feast of St. John Bosco (DON BOSCO) on the 31st of January. The students had a movie on the childhood days of Don Bosco (Johny) screened on the 30th afternoon. On the 31st, all the representatives of the various sectors of activity groups( College staff, Student Union Youth Center, Cooperators and lay people associated with the college from the Locality, Civil servants and friends were invited or a solemn lunch, In the evening, the Priests and Religious of the Locality and close friends and well wishers of the neighborhood joined the College management for Dinner. It was an occasion for all theose connected with the Institution to come together and fell the oneness and express appreciation.
The Director of Columbia Community College- California (USA) Ms. Lena Tran, visited Don Bosco College and interacted with the Final year students for about an hour. Her intention was to expose the various possibilities of Studying Abroad especially in her Community College at California. It was very informative and motivating. The visit was facilitated by members of Microtech and Educational Group having its office at Thrissur.
The NCC Unit and the NSS Volunteers gathered in the College to celebrate the Republic Day of the Nation. All the NCC cadets and the NSS Volunteers were present along with their Staff coordinators. The Introductory welcome was given by the NCC Candet while the Principal gave the introductory words to the participants. There upon the National Flag was Hoisted by the Principal. After the National Anthem, one of the NSS Volunteers gave a short speech commemorating the Day.
The College Celebrated 74th Republic day along with the whole Nation on 26th January. The NCC and NSS Volunteers gathered in front of the college for the Flag Hoisting. The Principal addressed the participants and Ms.Ardra CK of Ist year English Department gave the Republic Day speech. The NSS volunteers then had a half day Seminar on the Topic," Waste management" session handled by Dr. Jagadish, a Retired Professor from Agricultural University .

National Seminar on the Topic: Changes in Psycho-Social Attributes of Mental Health - Post Covid-19, on Children Youth and Family is Scheduled was conducted on 21st January 2023. It was a one day program which stated at 9.30 am and concluded at 4.30 pm. Dr. Aravind S from NIMHANS Bangalore, was the Key resource person for the Seminar. Dr. Thomas Varkey and Dr. Joe Kokkandathil both practitioners in the field were at the Panel Discussions. 13 scholars presented Paper presentations on various themes related to the topic in the afternoon sessions. There were over 210 participants from all over South India as delegates to participate in the Seminar.
The Inauguration of the newly approved funded NSS Unit of the College(Unit No.338) is to be held on 17th January 2023. The Unit will be inaugurated by the State NSS Officer, Dr. Anzer R.N. in the presence of Sree. P.Balachandran, the MLA of Thrissur Constituency who will be the Chief Guest of the Day. Prof.. Soni T.L the Programme Coordinator of the University of Calicut will be present to offer felicitation. The Inaugural Programme is scheduled to be conducted in the College Auditorium at 9.30 am. 50 NSS volunteers have been initiated in to the newly formed NSS Unit of the College.
On the Inauguration of the NSS Unit 338 at Don Bosco College Mannuthy, Mr. Balachandran P MLA of Thrissur Town, inaugurated the Fund raising Campaign activity of the NSS volunteers for the construction of a house for a deserving family. The first donation on this account was made b y the MLA himself during the Inauguration of the Unit on 17th Jan. 2023. The NSS Unit hopes to raise a target of Rs. 5 lac which would be a substantial amount to construct the house. The amount is to be raised through the donations by well wishers and benefactors.
PAST PUPILS of Don Bosco College Unit organized a Live sketching event by "Urban Sketchers Thrissur" at Don Bosco College Mannuthy on 15th January, 2023. 24 artists belonging to the Urban Sketchers - Thrissur, gathered in the College Auditorium and after a short inaugural function set to sketch the college premises from various angles. While promoting artists and their talents, the produced sketches by these professionals and beginners would be kept for sale to raise fund for charitable purposes. The Initiative was coordinated by the Leaders Mr. Sravan, the president of the Past Pupils Unit along with his team.
he second Orientation program for the fresh applicants for the Newly approved NSS unit of the College was held on 14th January 2023. The Camp christened as AKAAR ( molding the minds of tomorrow ) was an overnight camp which began on the 13th evening at 6 pm and ended on 14th noon at 1.pm. The purpose of the Camp was to do group building of the newly selected volunteers through various exercises in group dynamics, The volunteers were also given training and instructions on the basic requirements and practices of NSS life and activity. Prof. Tharun of Christ College was the chief resource person. The program was well coordinated by the Program officer of the College Asst. Prof.Ajeesh. The camp on the whole facilitated group building and enhanced enthusiasm and motivation among the participants.
Christmas Celebrations were held at the college for the Students and staff on 23rd December. The program began with blessing of the crib followed by Christmas Carols and Message by the Manager of the college. There upon the students had their celebrations in their class room with cutting of cakes and exchanging gifts. The Staff members too met n the afternoon to celebrate Christmas. All the employees came together for the first time. The Management offered gifts to everyone while wishing wonderful and grace filled Christmas to all
All the teaching and Office staff members went through a busy schedule of training on MOODLE an LMS that uses ICT. The Training was attended by 56 staff members. Mr. Prince and Mrs. Jwala, faculties from Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery were the resource persons. This program was introduced based on the MOU between the two colleges where there would be sharing of resources through Faculty and Student Exchange programs. The Teachers had a hectic hands on experience on working with the MOODLE.
The NCC Unit of Don Bosco Collège, Mannuthy, under 24(K)Bn Thrissur was inaugurated on 14th December at the College premises. Col.Suresh Narayanan of 24(K)Bn hoisted the NCC flag and during the function held at the Auditorium inaugurated the Unit. This is a mile stone in the progress of the College. Though since an year, the students had registered to form the NCC Unit, it was only on 14th Dec. that the Unit was officially inaugurated. The function on was attended by the Manager, Principal and several Officers of the Battalion. It is hoped that the newly inducted NCC cadets would perform well in their role as NCC cadets keeping in mind the Objectives of NCC.
The College hosted yet another social Awareness program for the students joining the Government's exhortation to campaign against the distribution, use and abuse of Harmful Drugs on 18th November 2022. . The Program was conducted by ICPF ( and NGO) which has been creating social awareness against Drugs among the students in the various Campuses. The program included a PowerPoint session followed by a skit portraying the dangers of Drug abuse becoming spread among the students.
The NSS in association with YODHA, an AntiDrug Compaign program of the Police Department was held on 18th Nov. 2022. The NSS volunteers put up a skit depicting the problems connected with Drug abuse and created awareness among the College students. The Police officials of Mannuthy Town monitored the event. Later in the afternoon the volunteers staged the skit on Drug- Abuse at 5 other locations in the Ollukkara Panchayat. The Program was well appreciated.
Fr. Stefano Martoglio, the Vicar General of the Salesian Congregation paid a visit to Don Bosco College, Mannuthy on 14-11-2022. He was given a warm welcome by the Students, Staff and Management. He had the opportunity to interact with the students an staff.
The NSS Volunteers organized a Blood donation camp at the College auditorium in association with 'Blood Donors Kerala' organization of Thrissur Branch. The Camp started at 8.30 am and went on to 1.00pm. 45 blood donors from among the College students donated 250 ml of blood each.
Our NSS Volunteers rendered their service in the Limb Distribution organized by the Trichur Rotary Club at the Jawaha Balabhavan at Chembukavu in Trichur District. Patients irrespective of gender and age were brought to the camp on wheelchairs where Doctors assisted in providing and fitting the limps that they require. NSS volunteers went out to assist them from moving from one place to another and also to fixt the limps. There were 7 patients who benefited from this camp.
It is the first time that a Graduation ceremony of the Final Year students who successfully passed out of Under Graduate and Post Graduate course is conducted in the Campus. The students who are awarded the Graduate Degree and the Post Graduate Degree under the Calicut University were felicitated on September 22nd in the College Auditorium. The Function began at 10.30 am and concluded with Lunch in honor of the Meritorious students. In the Same function, the Faculties who were awarded with Ph.D are also honored. Proficiency awards were also distributed to the class toppers in all the subjects who passed out in the same year. Prof. Ugine Morely, Syndicate member of the Calicut University was the chief guest and representative of the Calicut University to give away the awards and certificates in the presence of all the Faculties and Management of the Institution.

The Nature Club of Don Bosco College has planned to conduct a Photography contest on the theme: "Nature & its beauty" on 19th August to commemorate the international Nature Day celebrations.
The Entrepreneurial Development Club of Don Bosco College is now officially registered with the District Industries Centre of Thrissur District. The certificate of registration has already been received by the Principal. The Club is set to initiate several small scale projects during the year with the help of the District Industries Centre. The club has now over 55 members headed by Mrs. Princy as the Faculty in charge.
The College celebrated Independence day on 15th Aug.2022. The College Youth Center members, NCC cadets , Management, staff and several students participated in the morning flag hoisting. The Fla and the Surroundings were decorated and prepared by the Youth Center members. The Students under the Arts Club have planned to do freedom wall painting during the Onam Holidays to commemorate the 75 year of independence.
Representatives from the various passed out Batches of Don Bosco College from 2005 to 2017, gathered for a meeting on the 14th of August. The purpose of the meeting was to draw committees for the various activities of the year 2022-23. There were 26 participants in all accompanied by two current faculty members are the coordinators from the part of the College. The meeting was very warming and enthusiastic The memebrs shared their experiences in the college alife and how they would want to be active participant of the Alumni. The meeting ended with a sumptuous lunch. The Manager, Principal, and other father too were present for the meeting.
The College is proud to announce that Ms. Lucy Marium Samuel has successfully defended her Ph.D theses in the public Viva Voce held on 12th Aug. She is now awarded the highest Academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature. Dr. Lucy is currently the assistant professor in English language at the Department of English at Don Bosco College Mannuthy. We are proud to have Dr. Lucy in the College as one of our Faculties.
The Bridge course for the fresh students commenced on the 10th of August. There were 83 students on the first day and the numbers are expected to escalate on the following days. The Bridge course comes to a close on 27th of August. 2022
Don Bosco College Mannuthy inaugurates College Clubs for Academic Year 2022-23 Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, inaugurated the college clubs for the academic year 2022-2023 on July 8, 2022. The college has ten active clubs: Nature Club, Yoga Club, Literary Club, Sports Club, Music Club, Media Club, Arts Club, Dance Club and EDP, that help the students to enhance and develop their skills and abilities. The guests of honour were Mr. Stephen Alur, renowned musician and a Salesian alumnus; Fr. Mathew Kapplikunnel, Rector and Manager; Fr. Joy Ullattil, Principal; Fr. Robin Mathew, Vice Principal; Fr. Shino Joy, Administrator; and Mr. Ajeesh A.S. and Ms. Saranya, Club Coordinators. Mr. Stephen Alur presented a lively musical performance for the audience, facilitating the active participation of all the students. The various clubs also showcased their talents through cultural dances, folk songs and instrumental music.
On 22nd June 2022 Department of commerce organized a seminar on Digital marketing & Product launch on for all commerce students at 1:00 PM in the College auditorium. Mr.Milton.M.Joseph, Director of Green Wind Solutions,was the resource person for the seminar. Mr.Milton.M.Joseph enlightened the students about the importance of Digital marketing & its importance in today’s world. Trace - Reading week 2022 - 2023 was inaugurated on 20th June, 2022 in Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. Language Department has initiated the programme along with the Literary and Reading Club. The program was begun by 12.45 PM and was inaugurated by Mr Shinto V P, the Assistant Professor, Department of English, Christ College Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. The chief guest has given a great explanation of reading and its importance in day to day life. The talk was very interactive and was effective. The programme was presided over by the Principal Dr Fr. Joy Ullatil, SDB. The welcome speech was held by the HOD of the Language Department, Ms. Minu Thomas. The Resource person Mr. Sigy Antony Director, ASK Counselling Centre Vice Principal, TRADA Institute of Social Science, Manganam. It was conducted on the topic addiction, substance abuse, brain science behind addiction and the preventive techniques.
On 07th June 2022 Department of commerce commemorated Food Safety Day by organizing a seminar on food safety for all commerce students at 12.45 PM in the College auditorium. Dr. Rekha Mohan, Food safety officer Thrissur Circle, was the resource person for the seminar. Dr. Rekha Mohan enlightened the students about the importance of having good food habits. Nair took oath as the President of the Club. In a poignant and eloquent function organized by the Staff coordinator Rev. Sr. Deepthi Thomas SKD, student members took the oath and were inducted as per the protocol of the Rotary Club. This joint venture between Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, and the Rotary Club would cater to the development of five villages selected by the college under the Unnath Bharath Abhiyan scheme and would ensure that the club members get ample opportunities to develop themselves while catering to the society.

An orientation class for Rotaract club was conducted on 18 th November, 2021. The chief guest Mr. Jeejee George and the assistant governor of Rotary district 3201 Mr. Manoj were present as the main guests. Principal Dr. Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB, the Faculty Coordinator Sr. Deepthi Thomas, and the president of the Rotary club Nithu. S. Nair from 2 nd year, B.A English were also present at the meeting. The team members of the Rotaract club were also present at the meeting. The welcome speech was done by Ms. Denna James from 2 nd year B.A English. The principal Dr. Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB delivered a felicitation speech and gave necessary announcements about the club. Then Mr. Manoj Pushkar, the assistant governor was invited for a talk. He gave an introduction of the chief guest and the Rotary. The trainer Mr. Jeejee George took an orientation class on Rotary, so that students could explore the club with its aims and importance. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nithu from 2 nd year B.A English. Through this first session students got really interested in the facts of the Rotaract. “YOGA - the Stress Buster of Covid-19 Trauma” was a webinar organized by Don Bosco College, Mannuthy in collaboration with the MGNCRE on 15/07/2021 at 10.00. The online programme, inaugurated by the College Vice-Principal Fr. Lijo Kalambadan SDB, was well participated by large number who were awe struck at the possibility which Yoga presented to overcome the probable trauma caused by Covid. Ms Soubhagya Thimotheos, the master trainer from White Dragon Fitness Academy, Ollukkara, conducted the programme and reminded the participants about the need to stay fit and oxygenated to keep Covid at bay. While the academic Dean, Ms. Chris Aloysius welcomed the gathering it was Ms. Nithu who thanked the participants in the name of the programme coordinators Ms. Babitha Thamby and Sr. Deepthi SKD.
The Language Department of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy in association with IQAC organized a workshop on Anuvad(Hindi Translation) on 12/07/2021 from 8.30 a.m to 9.30 a.m in google meet. The workshop got started with a welcome speech by Anand, a B.A English student. The distinguished guest and spokesperson of the day was Dr. Shiji P.V, Assistant professor, Projyothi Niketan College, Puthukkad, Thrissur. The session was a highly informative one according to many of the students. Dr. Shiji spoke about the scope of translation in Hindi and the various career prospects in this field. Don Bosco College, Mannuthi in association with MGNCRE- community engagement services conducted a webinar on 'The How to Guide' Psychological First Aid During Pandemic on 9/07/2021 at 10.00 am through Google platform. Resource person of the program was Dr Sr Metilda CHF, a P. Hd holder from the University of Santo Thomas, Manila, Philippines. The programme was very practical and the resource person gave many good tips to keep the mind calm during Covid 19. It was a very good psychological tool to help oneself and others and the sessions were well appreciated by all. We believe that this programme would enhance the mental health of our students, teachers and family members. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Fr. Raju C. George SDB Who gave a very valid and timely message on the occasion. The joint venture of Department of Language and the Library club and the Music club found the Flowers TV's Midimidukki fame Ms. Martina Charles at the inauguration with a mesmerising duet and Dr. Roshni Swapna moved the 300 + participants with great insights into language and reading. A quiz was conducted by the Quiz Club in association with Department of Commerce, Don Bosco College, Mannuthy to commemorate Earth Day. The student coordinator for the quiz was Geo Chacko of I B.Com C.A.This online quiz was open from 22 March to 8 May 2021. Google form was used to conduct the quiz. Around 52 participants took part in the quiz. General trivia regarding Earth day and planet were included in this quiz. Those who scored above 60% got e certificates through their registered email.
Yoga club in association with IQAC, Don Bosco college Mannuthy, conducted a webinar on ‘Career opportunities in Yoga’ on 08th may 2021 at 10.00 AM. The webinar starts with a prayer by Ms. Aleena Mathew (II BSc. CS). Mr. E Vijay Bastian (HOD, Department of Electronics) welcomed the gathering and also the resource person Mr. Sajin M J who is the Director, Vivekananda yoga Kendram, Trainer and Therapist. The principal Dr. Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB gives the presidential address. Ms. Chris Aloysius felicitate the same. The resource person gives a wonderful class about career in yoga. He covers the topics- yoga in modern life style, how to be a yoga professional, opportunities and careers in yoga, misconcepts and modern concepts. The session was very informative one. Total of 100 students were participated. There was also a questionnaire session at the end of the webinar. The feedback link was posted in the chat box at 10.55 AM, the participant who filled the feedback form has been awarded with participation certificate. PLASTIC FREE CAMPUS Plastic free Campus was held on 18.03.2021 at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. In the Zero Plastic work, 25 members of the Nature Club participated actively. The students made awareness about disadvantages of using plastic. They also collected plastic things from the College area and disposed them safely in collection point near the canteen area.
The Nature club of the Don Bosco College conducted a registration confirmation day on 18th March 2021 at 11.30 a.m. for new members. Nature club in-charge presided over the function. Around 25 members participated in the programme. The by-law of the club was introduced in the meeting. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Jais Joseph Baiju.
DBC Nature club conducted ‘Acorn recycler’s day’ on 18th March 2021 at 9.30 am in front of the Arts block. Our principal Dr. Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB, inaugurated the function in the presence of teachers and club members. Around 25 Members participated in the programme. And they brought some recycled products such as bottle art, Paper craft, etc. As a part of this year’s theme, recycling into the future, Global recycling day 2021 is focusing on power of youth and education in ensuring a brighter future for our children. Ms.Vaishavi Rajan Of Ist M.sc. Electronics welcomed the guest and all other distinguished members to this webinar. Dr. Rinu Abraham joined the WEBINAR as Resource Person from United states. He is a physicist and material scientist, who is currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Pennsylvania State University, USA. He explained the new trends and scope of electronics. This webinar was aimed on providing knowledge on Recent Trends in Electronics like Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI). This was benefited to the Research Scholars, Faculty and Young Engineers, Students in their research and project work. The WEBINAR was ended with an interactive session with Dr.Rinu. The International Women’s Day Quiz, 2021 was conducted by Quiz Club in association with IQAC to create awareness and impart knowledge regarding various trivia about the day. The student coordinator for the programme was Soumya Thomas of I B.Com Banking & Insurance. The quiz was open to public for one month starting from 8 March to 7 April 2021. About 60 participants from various colleges and professions attempted the quiz. Those who scored above 60% got e certificates through their registered email.

VITA NOVA As a part of Campus Connect , Language department in association Library Club (Bibliotech) and IQAC organized VITA NOVA , literary fest of the year 2020-2021. The fest mainly focused on the constructive changes in ecology that happened in the context of COVID -19 Pandemic . The fest revolved around four events Wall Art, Bottle Art , Seed Paper pen and Happy Pots . The prior registration was done for all the events. On 20/01/2021 the fest began with wall art at 9.00 AM . 9 teams had registered for wall art. The Teams were allotted walls based on the lot. All the other events began at 11:30. Around 100 students participated in the events. The fest ended with a formal concluding ceremony along with prize distribution at the college auditorium. Fr. Mathew Kapplikkunnel SDB (Director), Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB (Principal), Fr. Lijo Kalambadan SDB (Vice Principal), Ms. Chris Aloysius (Dean of Academics) gave way prizes to all the winners. All the winners were awarded with cash prizes and an ever rolling trophy was given to the class with maximum participant percentage. Vita Nova was indeed a great opportunity for the students to nurture and exhibit their artistic talents and skills.

The New Year 2021 dawned as Don Bosco College, Mannuthy continued its pilgrimage of social commitment by celebrating the New Year together with the patients and bystanders at the Thrissur District Hospital, a custom lasting several years now, on the 1st of January. The Community Social Service wing of the college with the collaboration of the staff and students raised funds to mitigate the struggle of the inmates and their families. It was a heartfelt wish and prayer that all may be well during 2021. The hospital authorities recognized the fact that it was Don Bosco College, Mannuthy which rushed immediately to supply N 95 masks to the Health workers and inmates as the first ever case of Covid-19 was recognized in India, right here in the same hospital.

It was organized by the Sports Club of Don Bosco College under the guidance of the Sports Coach, Mr. Thahirudeen Sahib V.M. The competition was inaugurated by the Principal Rev. Fr. Inter collegiate Seminar on contemporary Issues in Indian Banking Sector
Women Cell of Don Bosco College had arranged an awareness class on Women Hygiene on 21st January 2020 at 1.00 p.m in the college auditorium. .The class was taken by Ms. Maya Venugopal (Co-ordinator, Softy Cups) and ended up with question answer session.
As a part of world pain and palliative care day, students initative in palliative care Thrissur had conducted a program named “RANG 2020” with a tag line “My care, My Right”. The program was held on 15th January 2020 Wednesday at students corner theknkad Thrissur. Around 100 students from Donbosco college participated in the event in co-ordination with CSS unit. Students of donbosco had took part int the cultural events very well. Mime, dance and Musical event performed by donbosco students was very impressive and theme conveying.
Don Bosco College, Mannuthy in collaboration with Don Bosco KISMAT, the Don Bosco NGO working for the migrant labourers in Kerala organized a large gathering of migrant labourers from in and around Thrissur on the 26th of October 2019. The Meeting was to create a community feeling for these guest workers. Around 400 migrant took part in this venture. The Honorable District Judge Smt. Sophy Thomas inaugurated the function. One of the outreach judges, Mr. Joy took the leadership in coordinating the government officials.
As part of police commemoration day a police bullet rally was conducted on 20th Oct 2019. The rally was a colorful event which took the attention of many. A bullet rally, led by cine actor Tovino Thomas along with the City police commissioner Yathish Chandra made the event more successful. The rally was welcomed by Don Bosco college Mannuthy. Hundreds of police personal, ignoring the drizilling joined the rally. The felicitation for the rally was given by Fr. Raju chakkanattu SDB. It was a memorable event in the history of Don Bosco.
Union Day officially inaugurated on 16/10/2019 Wednesday. Cheif guest of the day was Leona Lishoy (cine artist). Presidential address by Rev. Fr Raju Chakkanattu SDB (principal). “ARDUINO : Grow your wings & fly high” -The national seminar was held by the Department of Computer Science& Electronics, on 2nd & 3rd September 2019. It was organized by SAFE(Students Association For Electronics & Computer Science).The aim of the seminar was : over the years, Arduino have been the brain of thousands of projects, from everyday objects to complex scientific instruments due to its simple and accessible user interface. It was a 2 day workshop where everything from basicsto the fundamentals was taught to the students. Learning this platform might help students in rapid prototype development their project. Keeping these facts in mind content of workshop was designed and delivered. A total of 49 students(Electronics & Computer Science) from different colleges were participated the seminar. On 2nd Sptember, we started the program at 9.30 am in the AV hall,Arts block with the inauguration by lighting the lamp. It was done by the principal Fr.Raju Chakkanattu SDB. Mr. E Vijay Bastin (HOD of Electronics Department) delivered key note address and felicitation was done by Ms.Chris Aloysius (HOD of Computer Science Department). The first session “Basic Elecronics” was taken by Mr.Antony P.James (Asst.Professor, Don Bosco College, Mannuthy).The class was really useful to the students since it covered the some simple basic ideas of electronics that we need to know in our daily life. The second session lead by Mr.Aneesh Murali(Director,MBT Global, Thrissur). The session was about ‘ARDUINO’ . the students were familiarized the academic applications of the component. On the next day , 3rd September , it was the practical session of ARDUINO and started at 9.30 am in the Computer Lab,Science block. The certificates were distributed by principal Fr, Raju Chakkanattu SDB and the workshop came to an end by 4pm.
In connection with ‘Vayanavaram’ a Reading Day was organized and observed on 22 June 2018. It was inagurated by Prof. Reji V S. HOD, Malayalam Department, S.N. College, Nattika. Rev.Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB delivered the presidential address and Rev. Fr. Lijo Kalambadan SDB felicitated the gathering. It was an occasion to unveil the knowledge within students. Student representative Ann Maria gave away the vote of thanks.
The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2019 at DonBosco College Mannuthy. Rev.Fr.Raju Chakkanattu SDB, our Principal presided over the function.The Programme was Inaugurated by Mr.Dhaneesh P.V,Yoga Teacher Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan,Puranattukara. Yoga Demonstration done by Ms.Soubhagya Thimothius. A Yoga Club was inaugurated by Ms. Uma Devi I.S, Block Panchayath President, Ollukara and Ms.Sudha .C, Child Development Officer,Ollukara. Ms.Minu Thomes, the Yoga Club Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Ms.Sreeshma Murali proposed Vote of Thanks. This has been very fruitful programme is for teachers and students. Above 20 ICDS Aganavadi techers from Nadathara Panchayath participated in this programme.
In connection with the Reading week celebrations, a Book Exhibition was conducted in collaboration with the Cosmo Books on 20th and 21st June 2019 at the reading room of the college. It was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB, our Principal and felicitated by Rev. Fr. Lijo kalambadan SDB. Ms. Jestymol V Joseph welcomed the gathering and Mr. Alphin from II year BBA proposed vote of thanks.
Don Bosco College has witnessed the Women Self Defense program under the Women Cell headed by Ms.Veena Babu.K and Ms.Sakhi.M.P on 27th August 2019 for the empowerment of women through comprehensive awareness and pratical training program in the college. The Chief Guest for the program was Sasidharan Pillai (circle Inspector,Thrissur City Police).The progam started at 2 pm with a prayer by the secretary of women cell.The welcome speech was given by first year B.Com student and the presidential address was proposed by Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB(Principal).The inaugural address were done by the chief guest.The class on women self-defense was conducted by Senior Civil police officers Prathibha.P.K,Shiji.P.B and Civil police officers Sheeja Satheeshan,Cinti.K.L.The program has winded up with Vote of Thanks by the first year B.Com student Rachael .S.Illikkan followed by National Anthem.
On August 22th, 2019, Various commodities from our collection centre were taken off to the Meppadi flood relief camp located at Meppadi Grama Panchayat, Wayanad. The things were handed over to the Panchayath Secretary Mr Johny. The day was really unforgettable and such an effort indeed made us truly happy.

E- Learning is the buzz word of today’s IT driven education. It has opened a sea of opportunities both for teachers and students. Tapping this opportunity is the need of the hour. For equipping teachers with E- learning skills, a one day training program was conducted jointly by the Don Bosco higher education institute, Bangalore and Don Bosco college, Mannuthy in the college auditorium. Dr Geetharamani, Academic Dean of NGP college, Coimbatore inaugurated the training program and handled the first session. The session was a platform for the teachers to learn about the methods to make the learning more effective using the electronic media. The second session was done by Dr. Linda Simon, Principal of ELIMS college the session was about the importance of E- learning in the teaching learning process. Fr. Joy Ullattil SDB, Don Bosco higher education institute coordinator and principal of DBC college , Batheri delivered the presidential address. Fr. Raju chakkanattu SDB ,Principle of DBC Mannuthy gave the welcome address and Fr. Shajan Valavil SDB give away the vote of thanks. The Department of Psychology, Don Bosco College celebrated the World Psychology day on 21st July, 2023. Associate Professor, Dr. Nice Mary Francis from Prajyothi College, Pudukad, Thrissur was the chief Gust as well as the resource person. She engaged the participants numbering 130 on the topic: "Stress and Coping strategies".
